Its my first time going does anyone have a link of how much the ticas usually cost at there specific locations. This will be very helpful.. Also Along with the prices a complete list of where we can find ticas. I've read mostly about hotel del rey and SL...Any links with all the Tica spots with prices...please I'm going in 2 weeks...

P.s. Also can you tell me what not to pay and what being over charged may be..thanks..

If you join as a VIP member, even for 1 year, you can get the map and access to the MP/night club list with lots and lots of detail. If you don't care to spring for that, you can just arrive here, talk to gringo looking guys and ask them where to go (other than the Del Rey). San Jose is hard to navigate without a map, since there are no street signs to speak of and no addresses on the buildings. You'll save the price of a membership just with the map and list. Have fun.

There is a lot of YMMV talk here, and it is accurate. But for someone new, I would say start at SL and DR with $80, and the MP's at $40. Later, with more personal knowledge you can go lower (or higher, depending on your desires). Hooking up with a local or someone who has been a few times can help also.

lets look at this in a logical manner.

you are going to CR. you are going to invest a lot of time and money going there. you are not a rookie in the travelling game and have been to places like rio and other places.

so, you know how valuable info and groundwork is.

the best thing is for you to read, read and read the posts here and learn as much as you can yourself.

also, the tips about visiting places like the SL, if not indeed staying there, and meeting fellow mongers are excellent suggestions.

a CRT VIP card is also worth far more than the price of membership. you will save the initial cost in the first day in discounts from various sponsors, such as the SL.

there are literally dozens and dozens of MPs, Hotels, Cafes offering services from 10 dollars on up.

some visitors just like to hang out at places like the del rey or SL while others enjoy the search for diamonds in the rough.

i remember my first trip. i was staying at the presidente and having breakfast at the rail and chatting with another tourist dude.

he asked me some of the same questions you are asking.

when i started a recital of places, prices and other things i had learned from the board, he grew silent for a moment and then said he had been coming to CR for over 10 years and that I knew more on my first trip then he had gleaned in 10 years of trips.

so, if you really want to enjoy CR, join the board, read the post and participate.
