Tennyson Wellness Center was the focus of a city-wide crackdown on prostitution and other sex crimes at massage parlors, police say
PLANO, Texas — A Plano massage parlor that had been under investigation for alleged sex crimes is now closed, city officials announced this week.
The Tennyson Wellness Center, which was located in a complex of businesses in the 6500 block of Preston Road, was the focus of a citywide crackdown on prostitution and sex crimes at massage parlors, according to the Plano Police Department.
Tennyson Wellness Center’s closure comes about four months after police and the City of Plano filed a petition in Collin County District Court to investigate allegations of prostitution, indecent assault and lewd behavior, officials said. The petition included numerous exhibits displaying anonymous reviews of illegal services allegedly offered at the center.
An employee of the establishment was reportedly arrested on a complaint of engaging in prostitution in February 2023, at which point the business was reported to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Another employee was arrested on an indecent assault complaint in September 2023, as WFAA reported at the time.
In the wake of the parlor's closure, police said in a press release that its investigation into Tennyson Wellness Center is "just the beginning of a city-wide comprehensive strategy to identify and hopefully end sex crimes committed at massage establishments."
Added police in their press release: "We expect that legal actions will be taken against additional massage establishments in the Plano area in the near future."
