I don't do this sort of thing much any more... walk around at night for hours exploring, but I did last Sat. night and found a few places worth talking about.

This is not in any order:
Pirate Club: Still nice inside, not a girl inside at 11pm Saturday. Two nice looking ones outside smoking with the bouncers.
Key Largo and Del Rey: Key Largo very slow a little after 10:30 and also around 1. May have been okay around 11 or 12. Del Rey around 10:30 pretty slow compared to peak but this is the low season.

Papi's: a party in progress for one of the bartenders. Decent sized crowd, same old faces mostly.
Joe B's: Slow. Karaoke guy playing music videos but about 5 customers.
The Star Bar: down 3 blocks from Joe B's. Fair crowd, local crowd but mid-range, not too funky.
Bar Saturno: On Av 4 near Calle 12 or so. Very interesting. Upstairs disco, downstairs bar and restaurant. Not fancy. Girls and rooms available cheap and not appealing but a friendly atmosphere and a lively disco.
Royal Dutch Disco: Jammed with locals. Might have been some girls interested in older gringos but we didn't stay long enough to find out.
Some disco/bar above a casino near Calle Central and Ave Central. Upper middle class Ticos, dancing going on in the top floor disco (floor 3). Less crowded than the Royal Dutch, same sort of chance of making a connection.
La Loncheria: Looks like it's closed and for sale. Too bad, it was a good late night place.
La Chavelona: at around 11 it was totally dead upstairs, but it is open all night and gathers a good crowd after 2 am.

Such was my Sat. Night.

Not many know about royal dutch on friday and sat, the key is to go either solo or wfith a non jumpy wing as it is a place where if you wait good things will follow.

Watch for the group of girls that dance and buy a bucket of beers, dance with all of them before long at least one will make a move,,,,,if you take more then one wing they wont wait it out and your ass will be back at the rey dealing with hookers.....in the past I stayed at the R.D. and you can beat the line to get in by showing a room key.

The girls that I have taken have been part time workers or know if they Phuck a gringo they will get a payday, the best one I scored didnt have a id so never got her into my room but the handjob in the club was fun

Good points, Mike. No wing man unless he is on the same page, which is almost never. It's like actually going fishing rather than visiting a trout farm. I like the interaction and of course the more Spanish you know the better it goes. We're pretty much on the same page, maybe we should consider a visit junto?

I have stayed at the RD many times, rooms are a little better than morazan, clean, good bed, old style bathroom, not many gringos,nochica fee, u get a little different trip as you are away from the gulch its about 15 min walk to the rey.
!
Friday, Sat and Thursday the bar is full of non and semi working ticos, lots of fun if you understand how it works, rooms go about $50 a night

Never consider it to be a monger hotel. Not much info on this board on Hotel Royal Dutch. Did a search on Orbitz, with their additional 15% discount, the standard rooms comes to about $27/night. Any additional info would be appreciated.

Same owner as the Morazan and the Europa. Last I knew was monger friendly. Biggest draw back is the location which is ave segunda and calle 4.

Its a few years since I stayed there,pretty sure I paid a little over $40 a night,just thought it be about $50, if you can get it for $27 grab it,has a good casino which has non working girls that turn into working girls as the slots that their $ , if your solo its a great fine, but if your wings are staying at the sportsmen,rey,or places near the rey.....its a pain in the ass staying there. I had good luck there pulling girls I never would have met if not staying there.
