For foundation I definietly recommend Maybelline dream matte mousse!! Its like $8 at walmart and is the greatest! Seriously, Ill never use anything else.
As far as eyeliner, start with stick, dont try liquid. You can get different colors to enhance the color of your eye, but I stick with a basic black.
Eyeshadow is easy to put on, just put a dark brown in the crease of your eye and blend it with a lighter pink or skin colored over your eyelid and near your brow. I put the eyeliner on after I put eyeshadow on but most people do it the other way. I use Shimmer Strips...not sure of the brand. They are like $13 but trust me, they're good and they last. I've had the one im using for about 6 months now, so thats like $2 a month and im still going strong with it.
Im not to picky with lip gloss, but definietly dont get anything to red or pink. I try to stick to nude colors because it goes best with my makeup.
Get some mascara too, and blush or bronzer. It depends if you want to go for a dewy look or bronzed.

Dont dont dont dont whatever you do DONT try to put a lot of makeup on to make you look "better." People will definietly be able to tell you have to much on and it wont look natural, which is what you want. And watch out for makeup lines along your jaw.

i suggest that you go to coastalscents.com its a great website were you can buy cheap makeup..or if ur looking for something cheaper go to eyeslipsface.com...but since ur barely starting i suggest that you got to walmart or cvs...for some mascara and eyeliner and some cheap eyeshadows...or if ur looking for something more expensive go to mac everything is great there...

if u want to know how to put on eyeliner and eyeshado i suggest you go to youtube.com and type in tutorials to put on eyeliner and eyeshadow there is many tutorials that can help you out there and they can show you the basics and help you out wit wat kind of makeup you can buy

ELF sells brushes that are cheap and used by a lot of proffesionals. My next favorite would be Annabelle and Quo.

Revlon colorstay eyeliners are the best I have used, I even prefer them over my high end brand.

NYX and Jane both sell a good selection of eyeshadow from your lightest beige to bright orange and red. Start by stalking up on neutral colours like beige, brown, tan, gold, and white for a highlighter, then pick one or two fun colors such as green or purple.

Revlon Super lusterous lipgloss isn't too sticky and is sheer enough to let your natural lip color shine through.

Stick to a liquid concealer. It works a lot better than a stick concealer. Almay and Physicains formula are great brands for inexpensive concealer. Dab a small amount on zits, and lightly dab your ring finger over it till it is blended in. Set with sheer, translucent powder.

How to apply eyeliner and eyeshadow:

Choose a neutral color like beige or tan for your lid, sweep it across your lid using an eyeshadow brush and slightly up into the crease.

Next take a slightly darker brown, and using a crease brush, lightly sweep it back and forth till you get just a subtle wash.

Take a light color like white or off white and highlight your browbone and inner tear duct.

When you line your eyes, stick to brown eyeliner unless you have black hair, it looks much more natural.

Line from the outer corner in, as close to the lashes as possible. Only go two thirds of the way in thinning the line as you go along so it is slightly thicker at the outer corners. This makes your eyes appear larger rather than lining all the way around which can close your eyes off and make them appear small.

Finish with a touch of brown/black mascara!

Some nicer department stores do free makeovers.......maybe a chance to see what you like at don't like? Then buy the cheaper versions at a discount store. But if you are young in particular remember LESS is more. Just a bit of mascara and lip gloss can really make a difference and keep your look clean.

I would go with CoverGirl or Maybelline for eyeliner, lip gloss, mascara and definitely concealer.

Mousse Foundation (or concealer) goes on really light and blends well as well as the mousse blushes. You can find those in the coverGirl section of the makeup department.

The Colassal (big orange tube) comes in waterproof or not, and the wand does really well for making your eyelashes look longer.


You could try MAC or NYC for eyeshadows. Some are cheap, some are expensive, but all work pretty well if you know how to use them.

Brushes - body shop or MAC for good, long lasting ones. You could go with cheap dollar store ones of course, but remember, you spend a little - you get a little.

Eyeliner wise, since you're just starting out I wouldn't go for liquid. They're messy and take a while to get a hang of. I also wouldn't start out with the pencil kind you need to sharper, too much of a hassle. Buy the long skinny pencil looking ones, you just turn the bottom and more comes out the top (kind of like a lipstick) They also dry out less easily.
Choose browns or charcoals (stay away from black unless you have dark skin and/or hair)


How to put on eyeliner the most effectively: (there are also some good videos online)
1. The eyeliner pencil should be able to draw a thin, unbroken line along your skin - test it on your hand or arm first.
2. You should hold the eyeliner pencil as you would hold a pencil or pen to write with, usually with your dominant hand. Use your other hand to stretch the eye you are going to line from the outer corner. You can rest your hand holding the pencil against the hand pulling your lid taut.
3. Don't try to focus on your whole eye lid at one time - just look at the part you are drawing on. The line should be just above your eye lashes on the top lid and just below on the bottom, and should extend just to the outer corner of your eye.
4. Be wary if your eyeliner pencil tip is quite dry, as this may pull at delicate eye tissue. Draw the line with care if this is the case.

Eyeshadow depends on whether you're using a powder or not. Powders can be messier, so you'll want to put a tissue under your eye to catch the flakes. If you're using a pressed eyeshadow, just put the brush in it (don't push or you'll take you much/wear out the brush) blow on it to get rid of flakeys, and sweep it across the lid.
You should choose a lighter colour to go across the entire lid (past the crease but just barely)
Then choose a bit of a darker colour to go from the outside of your eye to half way across the lid (right along the crease, getting thicker the furthur you get the outsides of your eyes)

A good tip is to buy a bit of a shimmery white, put just a tad on the insides of your eyes (closest to you nose), and a bit under the outsides of your eyebrows to brighten up your eye, since the eyeliner closes your eyes up a little.

Honestly the brushes don`t matter. Sephora however has a great collection if you walk in, they have tons that are all labeled for the purpose. Coverigirl has great eyeliners. The best eyeshadows are either from MAC or Almay. The best lip gloss is Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Ultra Soothing Lip Tint. The best concealer is Covergirl.

To put on eyeshadow, sweep an eyeshadow brush in the eyeshadow a few times, then sweep it onto your lid. To apply eyeliner, it depends on the type, liquid or pencil. Eyeliner is hard to master and I considder not using it for a little while. It may look too harsh.
