Hi everyone, I just want to have different opinions on my website.

I check the stats everyday and I'm getting a pretty good amount of hits, however, only 1/8th of the clicks are actually calling or emailing. I'd love for someone to look at it and let me know what you think, suggestions, etc.

Here is my :2cents: I think your site is too wordy. Clients need to be able to skim through you site you have about 10 secs to get their attention. People don't want to take the time to do a lot of reading to know what you are all about. So I would add more pictures and less text.

Now for SEO stuff You need to have massage and your city and state in your meta eforum.xxxs and the footer of your site.

And can you change your page links to the left column so it looks less cluttered?

And a little SEO trick. Sneak in the common misspelling for massage "message" in your meta eforum.xxxs and see if that helps with more traffic :grin:

As a client, I love it that you have a website, you're on social networking sites and, big up, you have online scheduling.

I agree with JLWmassage, your site is too wordy and this comment is coming from an avid reader.

Also, the images on your about page seem to be sharper than the one on your home page. ???

I appreciate the responses I'm getting. I've taken your advice and toned down the wording. I took off about 4 pages and I wasn't able to change where the navigation bar is(it is on top right now).

As for the wordy part. I wanted to educate the person whoever is reading the webpage. I want them to fully understand me, what I do, and how I work. I thought by being open, upfront, and "wordy" they might be more tempted to want to work with me. However, I do know that a website is a form of advertising. Not a book. So I've tried taking things down a notch. Removed alot of cluter on the home page, etc.

As for the pictures, the program I use is iWeb for Macs and it gave me those images as a stock set, or starter set. The image on the home page was one that I found browsing online. If I could find the time, I'd love to take the pictures myself. Maybe of the place I work, me, the room, some sort of photography pieces, you get the drift

Because I'm using a "simple" web design software, editing the HTML and meta eforum.xxxs isn't that easy for me. There is actually no way I can do it from the program.

I think the reason it may be looking "too wordy" is because the font is so huge. It is difficult to scan the page for the info I want, with that large of a font. Just a personal preference, I am sure.


One thing: I thought you were in a Plastic Surgery Group ( http://www.massageplanet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=29984&p=177903#p177903 ) & ( http://www.massageplanet.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=2029&p=178974#p178974 ), and working on the side.

Have you considered adding (or did I miss it?) the info from the Plastic Surgery Group to your page, since you are actually there full-time, and this (website) is your side work? Or, is this your full time now?

I have the information on the contact page about the Plastic surgery. Should have a map and an address.

Thats for incalls. I make more money doing outcalls(i get to keep all of it).

So that should clear that up.

9-5 monday through friday at plastic surgery office

Hi John!
To insert my two cents here, I think it would be helpful to add your contact number and make it easily visible on the home page. Perhaps your location and rates as well. Those are the 3 most important things clients want to know when visiting your site, so it needs to be as easy as possible to find. Not that you've made it difficult, it just helps to put it instantly in front of them.

Hi John... took a look at your site, and read some of the posts here... some thoughts for you:

• If 1/8th of the people visiting your site are calling or emailing you—12.5% conversation rate—I think you're doing pretty well already!
  
  
• Before assuming you can't do something, google it ;-) I googled iWeb meta eforum.xxxs and found, in the first link returned, a discussion including a reference to this product that looks handy: http://www.ragesw.com/products/iweb-seo-tool.html
  
  
• The issue with your text isn't the amount of it, but the way it's written or formatted. You writing needs to be tailored to the medium, in this case the web. It needs much more visual hierarchy—headings, subheads, lists, tables, bold or italics for the important info in a paragraph. I need to be able to scan it easily. • Where are you located? I looked through your site with a little more care than I would if I were actually looking for a massage therapist, and I still don't know. If I were a potential customer I wouldn't be calling you, I'd be on to the next site.
  
  
• I think your website needs to do a better job at giving the user a sense of who you are. The photos, layout, typography all look stock. Except for the text, this could be any massage therapist's website, anywhere. Get some professional photos of yourself and your space made (I've always bartered with photographers) that aren't stilted or cheesy and put them up so people know who would be touching them and in what environment.

the webpage would appear this way because I'm a new business. I have never run a business or even tried to write out a website. Completely new to me. I've taken some of your suggestions to heart and changed a few things around. As for location, I'm outcall based mostly which is what my website says but I get people the option to come to the spa where I work also which has a map and address on the contact page.

I'm still updating thanks for the feedback.

John,

I've looked over your site again, and to bounce-off of what EgoMagickian said, I really think you should have your basic info on your front page, in a place which is easy for the consumer to pick up on quickly.

It took me about 15 mins. to find all of this and put it together in a easily understandable format. I had to hunt all over your pages to figure out exactly what you are trying to get across to the client.

I see that you want them to call you. You want build the outcall part of your business. But as a consumer, I would not have spent that much time trying to figure that out. I would have left long before.

It's not that your site is not nice looking. It is. I like it. I just wouldn't keep searching to find the basic info.

I suggest you put the following (or something similar) on your front page and the contact page (at bare minimum)... and if possible, find a place for this on every page.

I've generally x'd out the phone numbers, for sake of this post on the MassagePlanetL forums.

As a side note: Adding the Plastics facility below your outcall info may provide you with a little more credibility, so that people may be more likely to contact you for an out-call than they would have otherwise.

As another poster eluded to I would give people a better idea as to who you are. Including a facebook and twitter page is a great start. If I were a customer I want to know how are you different from the competitior?
