Cool Info Dude I only went thru Tepic coming from Guadalajara going to P.V. I remember seeing more ugly Indian Girls on the streets of Tepic. I have some contacts in Tepic that tell me Yes There Are Tabledance Clubs there too. I would like to give Tepic a chance in the future for sure.... I am still Here In Merida. I think My Buddy Beavis Said just go to The Casa De Citas Here But go with a Cab. I am Spending a lot of money here on Cabs. In Other Latin cities I just use The Cabs Late at night. In The Afternoons and Early Evenings walking Around And Buses But I Do Not Know The Bus System Here in Merida. Thanks For the info Again On Tepic... Maybe in November I might Be in that area.

Check out Lonely Planet forums for non-monger travel info. I just show up and a bus leaves within an hour (Tijuana, Guadalajara, and heavily traveled routes). I have been traveling and living on the edge in Mexico since 1991, and have never had any trouble. Well, if you count running out of money and having to get a Western Union money transfer to get a bus and food home, yeah that's trouble.

Hey Chanoc Damn GREAT REPORTS ON TEPIC. I was only going thru there from Puerto Vallarta going up north to Mazatlan. This was in late 1998. There is also another route that goes there from Guadalajara. The Girls I saw on the street of Tepic lokked More Ugly Cholita looking but I am willing to give Tepic a try for sure. Probably though only for one night. I do actually have a contact there in Tepic. I bought tamales in Las Varas for 5 pesos each, good comida! I bought huge tamales on the bus, between San Blas and Las Varas, from an old lady with a bucket for 7 pesos that weighed about a 1/2 kilo each. Food gets plentiful and cheap from Tepic going south. It was Yaka (jack fruit) season too, damn those liquardos are tasty for 10 pesos! I have hundreds of fotos and digicam (without sound .MOV) movies from the trip. All I need is a xD card reader because my camera cannot connect to this ancient Win98 computer. However, I feel like a noob for not taking any mongering pictures. I was too paranoid to take my camera mongering.

Eating in Guadalajara is cheap, no doubt. I could stuff myself for 5.00USD a day at Mercado San Juan de Dios in December, 2000. Good stuff like Birria - yummy!

Okay, here's where I saw taco prices in September, 2005:

N$5 Guasave, Sinaloa

7 in San Blas, Nayarit

7 in Las Varas, Nayarit

Northern Mexico (Sonora and Baja Norte) 9-15. 15 for shrimp tacos in Tijuana, although big tacos. Bus stations are a rip off. 10 pesos for tacos in Santa Ana, Sonora.

Actually any of these prices are cheap compared to what you get in the USA.

Folks, if you think this thread has turned into a cusine guide, and not a monger guide, just remember your hoe appreciates a good meal after fucking her.

Yeah, cabs are cheap enough. Only like 20 pesos (1.80USD), cheap insurance. Cab drivers are the best guides in Tepic. Once, in 1993, a cab driver took me from the bus station to the airport in Tepic. I told him about the 25.00USD bag I bought in San Blas, but had to leave it because taking a 1/2 lb of pot on an Aerocalifornia flight was dangerous. He took out a bag of dope rolled a joint, and we smoked on the way to the airport. He gave me a couple grams to take home. Smoked it when I got back to Seattle. Mexico was still dirt cheap in 1993. Prices have gone up considerably since 2000. The bus to/from San Blas used to be 1.75USD, and has gone up to 3.75. Hotels that used to be 8.00 a night, are now 20.00 a night. You can get deals in the off season by paying for the week or month. Tacos used to cost .25USD and have gone up to .50 - 1.50. Oh well, looks like it's time to head further south.

I walked around this area of Tepic at 12-4 in the morning, no problemo, going to the bar to score more coke. I did not look like a high roller though. More like a poor white trash gringo up to no good.

I was in Tepic this summer. There are plenty of ficha bars along the Rey Nayar street which is to the right as you exit the central camionera (you might want to take a colectivo or a bus there). There is also action on the large street where central camionera is located, one block before Rey Nayar. Finally, if you go straight as you exit the camionera, and keep going for 10 mins driving or 20 mins walking, you will hit an enormous street with the two directions of the boulevard separated by a canal (and bridges across). That is a poor and dangerous area, but there are a couple of strip clubs on that boulevard, along with lots of no-name cantinas where you could get a girl thats a 5 or below cheaply, or even free. I got one free.
