mobile practice- music players?

what sort of cd player do you bring with you in your moblile practice? i have seen some people state that they have surround sound as part of their setup- isn't that a lot to carry around?i just use a wee little cd clock radio that i got at target for about $20, but officially, it is my son's, so eventually i need to get my own so that he can have music to go to sleep to when i have an evening client.so, do tell.  what works for you?peacejen

The only place I take a "radio" to is for my chair massages.I use a small black travel type bag on wheels and insert the player and CD's in the bag.  It is a Sony CD/radio combination.  I take a seperate clock.  The CD player has amplified "bass" button on it, which really makes the sound very nice.  I'd get one of those when possible.I purchase a lot of small clocks at the dollar store and have them everywhere.  They run on batteries, and are great for when you leave on behind, etc.I usually have a few pocketed in my portable table bags, and a few at work and a few at home, just in case.For my table massages, I keep extra CD's in my table bag, and pop them in, if the client has music access.  If not, then no music.  I am not into carrying THAT much stuff, and usually with the out-calls, I am set up in 10 mins. and break down in the same amount of time, so there is not much of a time frame on either end -- and they ususally have a really nice CD player in the room.Hope it helps.

It says wall mounted, but will play fine 'on the flat'.  I like it because there are no fiddly controls, just a string to pull for play/stop, which looks handy if your hands are oily.

Most things sold in the UK and EU can actually be sent to the US now-days.  It's the nice thing about currency exchanges and a credit card.  Sometimes you do have a loss (meaning the product is a bit more expensive on the US side, due to the ratio of the USD - aka "US dollar" to the EUR - aka "Euro", recently).

Wanted to let you know, in case you are ever looking at purchasing something from overseas.  Also, the S&H can sometimes cost a bit more, than by ordering something in the US to the US.

However, in this particular instance, I'd be more concerned with the power source.  If it isn't running on batteries (and to be honest, I didn't check) then you may have a problem with the plug.  You'd either have to purchase an adaptor for the EU to US, or see if they can wire it for a US plug.

I have a setup that I think works well and is convenient for my on-site chair massage business. It consists of a portable Memorex cd player (which also plays MP3's!) and a very compact set of small flat speakers by NXT that plug right into the player. I got the whole thing from Target for under $50 and with my set of rechargable batteries it works great!

thanks for the tip, texas i was thinking of the power situation, too.   plus, my funding is somewhat limited, so i think i will have to look a little more locally.  but i really like how small that player is.

mobile practice- music players?

We are in the process of outfitting our team with MP3 Players. Ipod Shuffle with external speakers most likely.Less than $175, weighs just 6 oz. total, not much bigger than a CD jewel box and the clients cannot believe we go to such effort!
