Micros vs AMPs

Hello, happy pooners. I'm new at this, but I've been lurking for awhile to get comfortable enough with the community etiquette and what to expect with the hobby. It's also a self-preservation measure to minimize potential flaming. So here goes.

It took me awhile but I finally clued in that a micro refers to a smaller version of an AMP...all this time whenever I saw "micros" I thought the writer was referring to petite ladies! I was wondering what was it with so many pooners going for dwarf girls? lol It's good I actually found a proper def through another search.

Anyways, an AMP and micro seem pretty similar to me. Both would have a few ladies working...both seem to have a papasan or mamasan, both have a 'base' of operations. Except maybe an AMP is a bit more out in the open.

Fellow pooners, would you be kind enough to comment on your own take on whether an AMP or a micro is better? I'm leaning a bit towards micros, but sadly, I don't know how to contact any eforum.xxx-approved ones (though "Tom's" seems to be one of the more popular ones). Plus, I know that unless I earn my stripes somehow, it would be presumptuous of me to request for any contact info for a decent micro...though I'm hoping that won't be long!

AMPs seem to be getting a lot of heat and I think I'd like to go the indie SP route once I get comfortable enough. So that leaves a micro as a compromise for a newbie who wants to break into the hobby safely, but surely.

Welcome aboard.

An AMP is short for Asian Massage Parlour.
A micro is a location usually an appartment or condo or house where several girls work. Girls do change over, but not too frequently.
A MP, whether asian or not, are usually licensed premises (ie store fronts).

The biggest difference between the two IMHO is that with a micro, you don't have to pay a room fee. Also, micro services are usually all inclusive FS. The advantage of an AMP is that there is usually a larger selection of girls and that if you don't like what you see you can easily walk. (I guess you can walk from a micro too, but it is more awkward.)

As to which is better? I find that if you find someone in a micro that you connect with, you will have a better time. On the other hand, in an AMP, variety is the spice of life, n'est pa?

What's the difference if you go to an AMP and you have to go by a restaurant or another establishment? Do you feel any different?

With AMPS, it's hardly co-incidental that you meet the micro's neighbors when you arrive, and, if you do, you're just "visiting".

The secret is, just be discreet.

Island Dude, it does clear up some questions. That's a good point about the room fee...didn't think about that and I'm sure the room fee amount could be better spent on an extended experience. The micro's definitely sound like something I'd be aiming for. Any ideas on how to get started? I've seen Siang Tao newspapers mentioned, but how does one avoid the B&S and fishy ops? I don't mind TOFTT with an unreviewed lady, but I'd rather start that part off (new/unreviewed lady) from tried and trues, such as Tom's (I'm assuming that is an actual guy), but wouldn't even know where to start to identify the 'reputable' contacts. As for the B&S, I loathe immensely giving them even a dime....the audacity to even conduct B&S tells me they probably don't treat their ladies all that well....and I sure as hell won't support that. Honda761, now that you mentioned that, I hope I don't get a limpy if that thought comes up while I'm busy! lol Thanks, though...food for thought. It goes without saying discretion would be expected and should be practiced. It's just that some are better at it than others. I should know...I was living beside one!

I have something to add: I've usually gotten much better service in a micro. In an AMP (or an MP) there is this culture among the girls that usually keeps the other girls who provide better service in check. I've even heard of retaliation by some girls against popular ones, from things such as isolation to theft to vandalism of her property. In a micro, for some reason that is not there. I think it might be because it is understood as an "under-the-counter" operation so girls are more permissive.

Maybe, but for FS, micros and AMPs are about at par. And you rarely ask for a mere HJ or CBJ at a micro since it's all inclusive anyway, whereas at an MP/AMP one could ask for lesser services, and for less time too (ie: 30 mins, 45 mins).

And the other thing is, usually a pooner can walk right into an MP/AMP at the spur of the moment, whereas with a micro you'd have to call first (assuming you have the contact info with you) and make an appt, find out which SPs are available, and when you get there the lineup may have changed (albeit smaller to begin with than an MP/AMP). Personally I like the spontaneity of going to MP/AMP but hate having to pay extra room fee since I rarely ask for FS.

You may wish to also seek indies as your third option.

Kato, good points, too. Fortunately, I've got a lot of patience and I probably would make it a habit to call far ahead to make an appointment so there's no "spur of the moment" issue. That's why I'm thanking my lucky stars for eforum.xxx.ca.

I failed to mention that Derek's micro have a good rep here with eforum.xxxites (in addition to Tom's). Since he's actually got a user profile here, I might consider PM him now that I've discovered his handle.

Still, would anyone have suggestions for a good indie who is asian (yeah, I have the "fever"!), petite (I'm no more 5'6" myself) and close to a spinner? I've read quite a few reviews for Ying and she seems like a winner, but it would be nice to consider the alternatives.

i think in general you are wrong. yes they draw less attention (til now) but there's more likelihood of shady activity.

in the major January amp bust they found no illegals and virtually no one was charged. the recent pinky etc (micro) bust looks like they may hv found women being coerced/forced into prostitution. not a good thing if true.

because amps are 'above the radar' everything's pretty much above board. because the micros are more 'belowtheradar' some of them may be ethically questionable.
very good thing abt derek's and tom's micros is that the girls for sure are there of their own volition.

Indeed, you are wrong.

Micros are more likely where you will find girls without work visas, where you may find girls tricked into the sex trade, where you will are more likely to find girls engaging in 'unsafe' practices (willingly performed or maybe not), and where you may find girls trapped in their circumstance. Some girls come from Asia to work in micros, since they have no work visa, for the money and then head back. Are all micros like this? Of course not. However, micros are operations that choose to work outside the public view and hide their activities and locations.

MPs or AMPs are licenced businesses, periodically routinely visited by health department inspectors, by fire department inspectors, by folks such as a health nurse, and perhaps occasionally by undercover LE (all of whom obviously can become aware if human trafficking is occurring). Girls who work there choose to work there, keep all the tips they receive, and can leave at any time. Can bad things happen at an AMP or MP? I guess so, but it is more unlikely, since these businesses are more out in the open.

Hmm...thanks for more food for thought. As much as I want to tread carefully into this new hobby, I'm not going to do it at someone else's expense. As far as I can see, two of the more popular micro's would be Derek's and Tom's as they appear to run a pretty good operation, the ladies generally receive good reviews and they are there of their own volition.
