hi ... ive been looking at massage tables and have come down to about 2 that suit my budget at the minute and that seem reasonable in specification

I may be doing a mix of static or home visits so want one that can function as both, weight is important to an extent

You could also check sites like gumtree.com to see if there are any 2nd hand ones floating around. I've PM'd you about a couple I have knocking around but I don't know where you're based so they might not be any good to you.

I have just had a little look and these couches look OK. One thing I have noticed with cheap imports, that seem to be popular recently, is that if the back rises up, you can only plug in the head rest on the opposite end. I would consider plugging the head rest on both sides to be an important design feature and can (may be??) denote the quality of the couch.

They all look good, but I think the first one looks the best IMO, I actualy nearly bought that one myself. It was a toss up between that one or another one I liked on ebay and tao of books, but I chose the one below in the end because it is wider at 28". Tao of books came out the cheapest and offers a 2 year quick swop guarantee.

It arrived last week, and I'm more than happy with it. It is lovely and comfortable to lay on, plus nice and light at only 10kg, but does weigh more in case with face cradle and arm sling. It also takes a working weight of 450llbs. The face cradle can fit either end. It doesnt have a lift back, but I dont need use this anyway.

I do like the look of the tao of books beds and reasonably priced, but annoyingly they don't seem to be high tech enough to denote whether there stuff is actually in stock or not, and as they have about 6 colours for each bed, they'd need to be holding more stock than massage warehouse to have all their beds actually there ..

the 10 or the 11.5kg one looks nice, but i don't like to be messed about with we're waiting for stuff to come into stock emails etc ive emailed them anyway to check stock levels .. thanks

What colours do most people go for, the ones we had where i most recently worked were white, but i noticed a yellowing on some of them, so id like to stay away from that maybe blue, purple or the black

My bed from Tao of Books took only 3 days to arrive after ordering, quite quick I thought, and no postage costs either!!

I ordered a purple one as its my fave colour. White is quite popular, and was the colour of my previous couch, but it depends on your taste. If you're going to put a toweling cover over it, I wouldnt think it matters too much anyway.

the port-lite looks a little thin too me! and its heavier than the supalite!

mmmm when u go through the order process for tao books, it only gives you an option for 2nd class post at 5.75 not 3 day or anything like that

also where you enter your credit card details there is no padlock underneath the page for secure transactions .... despite their website saying:

"You may give your credit card information as you place your order (there are no known cases of this encryption being broken)",

They don't have any encryption at all, that I can see

guess i'll need to wait for clarification on these issues before ordering

But thanks as soon as ive clarified these issues, i'll be ordering away, but I guess the IT Man dies hard in me

This is strange, i didnt experience any problems during the order process myself. I cant say that i remember seeing anything about 2nd class delivery. I ordered on a Sunday, and it arrived on Wednesday. With second class postage I think they say up to 3 working days for delivery. If you have emailed them, you should be hearing from them soon anyway.

Well 3 days is absolutely right for delivery times from these guys, ordered tuesday arrived today they told me they had 18 of the innova tables in stock with all the colours but i went for the ultralite mainly because of the adjustable legs, and the weight

based on how heavy it is with the headrest 10kg is the heaviest i'd want.

it looks great, amazing quality, the legs are a pleasing grey to go with the purple i presume, but not white like the burgundy one on their website which looks a lot better i think, headrest is very comfortable, and its easy to assemble ...

its my first ever personal bed .. but im pleased enough, i can get on it easily with lots of space for my arms .. i weight about 75kg, I doubt any table will be wide enough to deal with some clients , but this table will do for the majority of people

anyway amazing table and i look forward to getting into action with it

I was looking through the new Argos catalog the other day and noticed they now sell a massage bed 302/7585
Anyone bought one?
Was thinking of getting one as I have a £20 gift voucher somewhere.
No mention of bed weight or max weight though.

Appears to be made of wood so I presume it's fairly light.
Reminds me of something I read about coal miners preferring wooden pit props to steel. Wood gives you a warning when it's about to fail whereas steel just goes

What does it say to you that they don't even put the weight or dimensions on the ad?

It looks like a cheap table (well it is cheap) to me and at a guess I'd say it is around 19-21 KG in weight.

I have made the mistake of buying fitness equipment from Argos before and it was so flimsy and cheaply made.

it is one thing to put myself at risk but to put a client at risk is another thing.

I would stay well away and stick with a reputable specialist retailer who can advise you and make sure your getting the right table for you.

Argos never put much on their ads, its a problem in a similar way, to if you actually want to see the item before you buy it!

I reckon that tables about 16kg which seems to be the standard for heavier tables, it could be heavier but i doubt you'd get it out of the shop ... i find my 10-12kg table heavy let alone 16kg.

In defence of Argos's dodgy gym stuff, its not really theres, its all York or golds gym or pro power, Im presuming their table is also a clone or made by a major manufactorer im sure an email to them will clear up the technical specs of the table and maybe even who it is made by !!!

But I agree, I wouldn't buy one simply because I believe you should go to specialists for this type of kit .. argos is great for kettles,and the like and there policy of taking stuff back and getting it instantly replaced still works for me, especially considering the amount of stuff ive taken back which has broken down

Thanks for your feedback on the massage couch jaffa. I'm thinking about changing mine. I struggle moving it around. Thinking I was becoming a weakling, I've just weighed it - 21kg/48lbs! Even 3 shredded wheat don't help me move this around easily. It's a great peace of equipment but only if you can leave it up rather than keep taking it down.
