Massage Oils

newbie here.  what do you recommend for acne prone skin? i was practicing on a friend, and he broke out from the cream we use in class. he gets terrible break outs on his back. i just massaged his legs (he's a cyclist) and his legs broke out. the school has us use Revlon's Aquamarine. junky cream, i know. i was thinking of using coconut oil.thanks

Newbie, Can I suggest that you start a new subject with your question.  This one is so old that I don't think many people are reading it.  I only knew about your question because I'm signed up for "notification" whenever someone adds to it.  PS I wonder if you go to the same school I went to in San Antonio (AMTT)?

was it the aquamarine that gave it away?   yes, i'm going to AMTT. i asked don about it last night. he seems to think the lotion is fine, and my friend should take a hot bath afterwards. i think that would just make the chemicals in the lotion sink further into the skin. he couldn't advise me of any other products to use. ugh.

Massage Oils

Wow, that looks like some cheap stuff! I don't imagine it's got the amount of glide we massage therapists tend to like in a good quality product.There's lots of great massage oils, gels and lotions on the market... and some companies will send you free samples even, I'd think. I know I called several places and got free samples when I was a student!In the meantime, how about going to a health food store and picking up something? Jojoba oil maybe? I always liked Apricot Kernel oil myself... I do tend to prefer oil gels or creams better though... I'm not a huge fan of lotions (not enough glide for doing swedish IMHO).Why not try contacting a few massage oil companies and see if they'll send you a free or inexpensive sample of their products to try.Who knows maybe you can get together with other students and place a larger order if none of you like the Revlon Aquamarine stuff! *shrug*
