Lomi Lomi

Can anyone tell me where I could locate a Lomi Lomi massage therapist/tutor.

Also have you had personal experience of such a massage, if so how was it?

There have been three previous Lomi Lomi threads on this forum: I suggest that you read those three threads (particularly the second one).

There are two Lomi Lomi tutors who trained in Kauai (one of the Hawaiian islands) currently working in the UK: Lizy Newton (based in Wales) and Rosalie Samet.

An absolutley yummy massage! I offer hearworks lomi lomi at presnt! But heres the best bit...im off on Saturday for a seven day residential in Bantry Cork...training in temple style....cant wait....still cant believe I swung seven days away from home.....

You make Lomi Lomi sound like an absolutely wonderful experience, I am quite jealous that you have both recieved and practice it. Maybe one day I will meet a therapist in the East Midlands or surrounds, who offers such a massage.

Till then, have a wonderful time learning "Temple Style". Perhaps after your course you will tell us what it was like and how it differs from you curent style.

I previously studied Heartworks Lomi Lomi with the sameFacilitators taking the Temple style Lomi Lomi course in Bantry! Celtic Kahuna! Both Patrica and Keith studied in Hawaii!

Thanks for the reply – and good luck with the course. I would be interested to hear more about the differences between ‘Temple style’ and ‘Heartworks style’. I have done two courses in Temple style and am familiar with that style (at least in the form in which it is taught in the UK). But although I have read Nancy Kahalewai’s recent book on ‘Hawaiian Lomilomi’, I am not familiar with ‘Heartworks style’: indeed, it is not even mentioned in the index to Kahalewai’s book.

I can recommend L-L as taught by Rosalie Samet (note to mods, if recommendations are allowed). I did the first stage of training with her some years ago - the physical side of the therapy is an amazing experience & I still use many of the strokes in my general massage. I didn't continue because the training also included a client 'counselling' component which at the time wasn't what I wanted to get involved in, probably because there were issues in my own life I hadn't dealt with.
