Location of Bar Mexicana in San Isidro d. General

Monger stuck in San Isidro looking for some info from my monger brothers that have experience in this town. I understand the only real punta bar is Bar Mexicana with average girls. I've only been able to determine that it is just outside of town. Can anybody give me a better idea how to find this place? I'm not thrilled about having a taxi driver take me there.

Does anybody know of any independents in or just outside of town?

Other bars?

Rub and tugs?

Or anything else I haven't thought to ask.......

Bar El Mexicano

I paid a visit to Bar El Mexicano two weeks ago.

When heading south on the Interamerican Hwy, the bar will be on your left approximately 1 km north of the town center (before the divided roadway). It is located in the basement of a large restaurant (you will probably miss it on your first pass). Keep your eyes wide open for three signs hanging from separate pedestals advertising "Pepsi", "Canada Dry" & "Imperial" with "Bar El Mexicano" displayed under each product logo. The entrance is a large, blue gated "tunnel" that shelters a stairway to the basement of the restaurant.

My wingman and I went there on a Monday night...and the place was virtually empty except for the bartender, two ticos and 5 working girls. The "talent" was average looking and appeared to be bored, tired or both. There is a bar with a few tables as well as a room off to the side. The room has a dancing platform and a pole for the girls to perform. I believe we paid 1,000 C for a bottle of beer. There are a few rooms with beds behind the performance area.

I was approached by a Dominicana (who I would rate a "5") who offered 1 hour for $50. When I tried to negotiate, she responded with a "take it or leave it" reply. We opted for the latter...after two beers, my wingman and I left.

IMHO, I would give "Bar El Mexicano" a solid "DOUBLE THUMBS DOWN." To the best of my knowledge, this establishment is the only place in San Isidro that offers overt P4P.

Having said all of the above, San Isidro is home to the most beautiful women in Costa Rica. There is even a large billboard 10 km north on the Interamerican that proudly acknowledges this fact. After spending several hours in this tidy little city, there will be no doubt in your mind that this is true. San Isidro women are, indeed, beautiful and friendly, but unlike San Jose, a man in search of female companionship will need to expend some time and effort. Chances of an immediate score are very unlikely.

Even though the ratio of women to men are in our favor, San Isidro women expect to be courted (dates, flowers, meeting the family, etc.) before they will even entertain the thought of going to bed with a man. If you are planning on spending some time here...and willing to make the effort to get to know a woman...you probably stand a better chance than someone who is just passing through, IMHO.

A great place to meet some of the local lovelies is the club, La Cascada (located in the center of town). This place is packed with them on weekends. (Drinks and food are very reasonable.) You will need to work fast because the place clears out by 11 pm when the girls leave to meet their curfews.

I actually bit the bullet and had a cab show me where it was. I went late Friday night, it's just as you described it. There was more talent there on Friday and suprisingly, depending on what you like there were at least 3 girls that looked quite good, especially for the caliber of the place.

The prices are all over the boards here. I spoke to a few locals, tico's seem to pay as low as 4-5 mil for a 1/2 hour. I got stuck paying 20 mil.

Most of these girls are young and inexperienced or mothers that don't want to be there. I'd be suprised if you'd get a GFE or PSE experience. Mine was nothing to write home about but at least I know she plays it safe.

It's affordable, choose wisely...............

I remember you mentioning that pricing in a post a while back. That's why I was blown away by the $50/hr quote...I was expecting some bargain basement pricing here. Perhaps, you are correct...more gringos in the area may be jacking the prices higher.
