Hello...I'm in a big hurry to buy a Wireless Router (24 hours) but I am at a loss after a "rushed" research into wireless networking.
My Questions:
1) The tech that is coming prefers Linksys, and carries the Linksys E1000's for a standard install. ($50) the price is alright, and is a decent router for "basic needs". (from my research)
2) I'm thinking of getting the E1500 for about $20 more as it's seems a little better over the newer, ( re-vamped E1000..ie, the E1200 .. which is about $5 more.)
3) Then for another $10 , I could move up to the E2500, which is Dual-Band. (might have a USB port.)
I want to do basic internet with maybe 3-4 devices at the same time, ( but not often) and be able to stream movies occasionally via Crackle, Netflicks. The home does have a "cordless" Home phone system and wireless phone with Bluetooth use somtimes.
None of these routers are "Gigabit ports" and I'm not sure how that will affect the main user, the Wired Desktop, meaning....Will "10/ 100 vs Gigabit" ports affect the overall Desktop's speed?
Finally, I think the E1500 is a good router because it seems to get "really" good reviews over the E2500 and competes well with the two less expensive models. I know it has an extra antenna (MIMO?) than the others and a "off circuit~external" power somthing....lol.
Also...the ISP is pretty low end as it's in a rural area and there is no other option than "Dail-Up".
In summary....should I spend $50..55..70..........80 ..?
All opinions welcomed. Thank-you
LOL... I guess the Dail-up part was unclear...I'm talking broadband...I meant to say there are no other Broadband choices, leaving only Dailup as an option....sry, and thanks for the input......
Hmmm...using attached storage to download "streaming" video?. I'll have to research that now. thanks.
