LE at Swan Lake tonight

I had such a great day today that I had to share it.

Worked all day, then needed a massage so I decided to go hit Swan tonight for a much needed massage.

I get there, picked a girl (already reviewed many times, no need to go on, typical service) Get the massage for a while and then suddenly the lights come on and then a split second later there's a knock at the door, and the girl gets asked to go to the staff room. I'm thinking.. CRAP! Never been in the situation, and I HATED giving up my ID. Don't suppose I could have refused? Fortunately I was getting a massage and nothing more. Got a couple of questions about how often I go, where I lived etc. And then sat there thinking, CRAP CRAP CRAP I shoulda went to Riverrock instead. Waiting an hour, though after a while I just got dressed 'cause it was COLD!

Finally LE leaves, girls comes back and I spend another hour there. End up spending quite a while, but still, definitely not my favourite day.

So I leave and end up going to Riverrock. In 2 hours I end up making $900 at poker. Leave after an hour more.

BUT CRAP LE has my ID!!! I'm on a list somewhere, am I not? Anyone know how often LE is there?

The pissy thing is I had a funny feeling about something like this all the while to Swan too.. .*sigh* ah well. What is done is done.

I think what he means to say is that the LE has identified him and has his information on file.

If such a situation occurs again, you are under no obligation to identify yourself to the police. If you are simply getting a massage, they have no reasonable grounds to believe that you have committed an offense.

If you are engaged in "something else", I think someone once mentioned that the best thing you can do if the LE bust in is immediately go lock the door and jump in the shower. You'll freeze your ass off, but it will give the girl time to get dressed.

However isn't it just like if you're driving and refuse a breathalyser? Technically you can refuse, but if you do, LE can make your life even more miserable?

The police will only ask you to take a breathalyzer if they have reasonable grounds to believe you are impaired. It goes without saying that there is only ever one answer to the question, "Have you had anything to drink tonight?" And that answer is no.

Of course, stinking of booze probably isn't going to help you either.

Getting back to the issue of a massage parlour, indeed they are technically licensed. However, they are licensed to run a massage parlour, not operate a brothel (aka bawdy house). That's illegal (keep in mind that prostitution isn't illegal; however, the solicitation of sex for money is). So technically, even if they bust through the door and, assuming for a moment that they have caught you with your bone up Trixie's pooper, they still wouldn't have much to hold you on.

Unless, of course, they bust down the door right at the moment that you blurt out, "Trixie, if I give you $60, can I put my pee-pee in your dumper?". Then you might have a problem. Otherwise, they don't really care much about you being there, other than if you are stupid enough to confirm that you were having sex with Trixie (or be seen having sex with Trixie), they can use this against Patrick. He's had some issues with this before, something you can read for yourself if you Google "Swan Lake Massage". So, really, do us and Patrick a favour and keep your mouth closed.

That being said, I think everyone but the most imbecilic of our population understand exactly what goes on in places like Swan Lake. The purpose of the LE bust, really, is to check on the girls and ensure that they are entitled to work in Canada and, occassionally, to give Patrick the gears.

Really - don't the LE have bigger fish to fry?

There is no reason why the RCMP should be noting your license plate number. Under the Freedom of Information Act, they can only collect personal information when they have the clear authority to do so, or when the collection is related directly to and is necessary for law enforcement. Neither is applicable here.

If you are concerned and are so inclined, you could always make a Freedom of Information Act request to the Richmond RCMP. They are required, by law, to disclose if they maintain information about you and what that information is. If they have, for whatever reason, kept a record of your license plate and have personally identified you as a client of Swan Lake (highly doubtful), you could require that information to be purged.

That is, of course, if the LE is operating within the confines of the laws of this country.

Driller, I am not concerned about the LE recording my plate number. If they did, how would you ever know? Just a comment to say if they want to know who you are they have many methods.

If they ask for your ID you ask what you are being charged with. If they say nothing then you don't have to give it to them. Then again for being an uncooperative shithead, you are probably asking for trouble.

I was Atlantis one night when a similar thing happened, but I was in the room by myself with my clothes on, I had just finished my shower and got dressed, timing is everything. They didn't ask for my ID. There is nothing even vaguely illegal about sitting in a room alone fully dressed.

Unnerving to be sure, but I'm surprised no one has keyed in on the real
reason LE visits AMP's. Like in the original post the girls were asked to
go to their lounge. LE are mostly interested in checking the girls ID to
make sure they are not Illegal aliens.

Still a shitty thing to get caught up in and especially if they caught you
with the girl riding the wild baloney pony !

Then the shit could have really hit the fan.

Or I could be totally mistaken and LE likes to check out the girls this
way not having to pay a room fee.

theres not a damn thing that LE can do if they open the door and catch you in the sexual act. having sex with someone of the opposite sex is not illegal, it is between two consentful adults. if there is no mention of sex for money cops cannot do anything. it is this exchange process that is the problem. cops cannot say why your having because any two ppl can have unclosed sex. just dont mention that your paying for it.
the many reasons for having sex

1. you want to date her and you both of you are attracted to each other and one thing lead to another.
2. you are dating her and came to see her at work and respectfuly paid for the room fee. (there was no customers coming in so you gave her a favour and came to see her while she is bored/lonely.
3. while having a massage you got hard and pay for extra hourly fee and she voluntarily allowed you to mount her since extra cash was paid at the front for longer massage session.
4. you had some drinks and were hitting on her, and she felt pressured to have sex with you because she is shy and bit scared to say no for sex while your intoxicated. the cops cant charge for being drunk or for pressuring her.

number may be the less likely scenario case to use.

cops may ask the guys for i.d. just to see if you're up to no good. it's not uncommon for some thug to make money dealing drugs and then go blow it at an amp. they may be checking just to make sure.

A couple of things have been covered here that haven't been made entirely clear:

1) LE can ask you to do practically anything, it doesn't mean you are obliged to do so. You can technically refuse to identify yourself and you will be right but these folks are pretty unsophisticated and will take it as smarmy if you refuse, hook you up to the bracelets and then go through your wallet anyway. If you want to go through the hassle, leave the ID elsewhere, then decline. They still may haul your ass in and keep you for 24 hours but you will have the warm and fuzzy feeling of knowing you're right.

2) A favourite way LE likes to lean on you is by threatening you with "obstruction of justice." if you decline to talk to them about an incident they are inquiring about. Not providing a witness statement or such doesn't come close to meeting the burden of proof for this charge. Cops are bullies -- in lots of ways its a means to an end that benefits all of us but no fun when you are on the recieving end of their bullshit.

You have the right to keep your trap shut. If you talk to them, they are not acting as a judge of the situation. Rather, they are collecting what they need to support a charge. (which the crown makes a decision on not LE) Everybody thinks they are smart enough to keep themselves out of shit. If you talk you are not smart enough. Say nothing, admit nothing, don't try and explain anything, get decent legal advice as soon as possible.
