i will be going to TJ this weekend with a friend of mine. I was wondering if any of these hotels offer 2 bedrooms. Id like to have my own room when i bring back a chica. The prices seem reasonable for a one night stay.

Hotel garcia(left side of adelita bar) is very clean and $25 overnight. First 2 chicas no joiners fee.

I would add The El Porton to the "decent" list. You could also include Hotel Coahilla (above Adelitas) to this list.

A lower level list of " barely acceptable" hotels offering overnight rooms in La Zona would include Rizo de Oro, The Mini, Hotel Nelson and amigos I know say the few newly remodeled rooms in the Michocan #1 get an acceptable rating.

There are a few hotels in La Zona that offer overnight rooms to my knowledge, but cannot garner the above ratings: Jalos, Irma, Najera, older rooms at Michocan #1, Los Monitos and the cold-water-only Hotel Eduardo.

I made the following post last June. The cost changes I am aware of are at Cascades, where single rooms now go for $40 (or $35 a night if you make a reservation on their website). El Porton was $30 a night when I stayed there in March and they did not impose a joiner fee until the third chica. The Rizo de Oro website quoted single rooms recently at $25. The Eduardo went up $1 (or 10 pesos) from last years rates:

Hotel Coahuila above AB is $35 per night. Their jacuzzi rooms are rented only for 3 hour periods, not overnight. Checkout is noon.

Hotel Jalos next door to (& associated with) CC is $20 plus $11 joiner fee for every chica you take up (even the first chica).

Hotel Leyva (next door to Jalos) is $24 for a single in the old wing
$29 for a single in the newer wing (parking gratis) and $34 for a double in the newer wing. No joiner fee. $2 key deposit. Only rooms in the newer wing have televisions. Checkout is 1 PM

Hotel Cascades 2000 above Miami & Las Chevalas charges $31 for a single plus a joiner fee after the first chica in 24-hours. Cascades' double rooms go for $40 and a joiner fee is charged only after you take in two chicas in a 24-hour period. Jacuzzi rooms are $71 and YMMV regarding joiner fees. Rizo de Oro hotel above Bar Tropical has the same fee schedule as Cascades 2000. Checkout is 1 PM.

Los Monitos on the NE corner of the crossroads has dingy upstairs overnight rooms for $20 or 200 pesos. They have a few new rooms, that I don't know the rate of. They likely are around $35 to $40 Checkout is 1PM and used to be rarely enforced. No joiner fees.

In the alley, overnight rooms at the Mini and Najera are $20 or 200p. Najera joiner fee after first chica is $4 or 40p.
El Porton is $35 overnight (weekdays only) YMMV re:joiner fees.

And the cold-water-only Hotel Edwardo is $12 or 120p for an overnight room. Checkout is noon. Joiner fees are $3 or 30p after the first chica.

Samps, THANKS, You are 100% right on all counts about the yellow cabs. I hate the SOBs as well and I won't ever use a yellow either and haven't for many years. But I didn't have the energy or time earlier to expound on it. But the Taxi Libre alternative might be a little intimidating for a new guy. And there is still a taxi fight at the traffic circle to get a Taxi Libre.

So for you first time new guys when you cross the border just keep walking straight and go through the second set of turnstiles. Off in the distance you will see the yellow cabs. The fare is $5 for one or four. PERIOD.

Now here is an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT lesson, that once you cross the border whether it is a shoe shine kid, a taxi or a chica. The FIRST WORDS out of your mouth shall be HOW MUCH? Even something as little as a $1 or $2 shoe shine will be $5 if you don't ask up front AND YOU WILL PAY IT! Got it?

I will never get in a yellow taxi. They are crooks on all levels. Whereas other taxi companies can have crooks as well, it is taught and preached with the yellows.

In my time here, I have seen them surround taxis in spots where they want to take over...surround parked working taxis and walk away from their cabs...until the competition agrees to look for another spot.

I have seen them try to close the border by blocking the entrance for incoming traffic...then when the police came they took baseball bats to the police cars

Recently they had 10 to 15 yellow cab drivers arrested after beating up a single CLIENT...yes they beat the shit out of their customer

Nearly all taxi drivers from the other companies can tell you a story of being attacked by yellow taxis.

Also they have a company called taxis economico......and they advertise cheap service like $3 for downtown...recently a family of three asked for service to Revolucion...the driver agreed it is $3, but when he got them down town he charged $9...told them that it was $3 per person.

I will walk before I take a yellow taxi. They believe they own Tijuana and many of the locals hate them and refuse to use them.

Much to my surprise I have received a couple of PMs and questions from some new guys? Welcome!

There are 3 decent LZ hotels. HDS-(Hacienda de Santiago), the Leyva & Cascadas.

For those on a budget, the Leyva will be best. It's smack in the middle of everything. About $30 a night? Maybe SMD can confirm that? I don't stay there. I stay at HDS, it's $42 a day with a kitchen and 2 double beds. Kinda like a mini suite.

All the chicas know the Leyva so you won't have any problems with the chicas if you want to take them to your room.

TAXIS: After you cross the border take a yellow cab to AB-(Adelita Bar) or HK. $5. You can then walk to Leyva or Cascadas.

RIPOFFS: Regardless of what bar you are in, ALWAYS remember the number the waiter wears on his chest. ALWAYS count your change. ALWAYS bring small denomination $$$ or pesos. I only use pesos. NEVER bring $20 bills. 5s and $1 are best.

HK is the biggest ripoff and hustle in LZ. So just be on your toes and figure you are gonna be cheated by a masero. Cause you will. If you don't speak spanish, stick to your guns and ask for an English speaking masero. They have lots of them.

Your cervesa will be $4 and the chica ficha/drink will be $7.50. When they bring your chica a drink they will put a bag of chips on the table and charge you an extra $5. NOT! Don't get pissed. They are just doing their job. Just grab the bag and put it back on the tray.

BTW there are lots clubs with 2 for 1 beers.

But ya gotta get your head in the right place once you are settled in. So learn to relax and enjoy the chicas. Shopping is fun.
