I've introduced some Koi with my goldfish and the goldfish won't leave the Koi alone?

I have 6 goldfish which I put in the pond about 3 weeks ago as advised to condition the pond for the Koi. We were told that we could keep the two together so yesterday we bought 7 Koi and introduced them to the pond. Since then they Koi have been continually chased by the goldfish and have taken to hiding behind lights/pots etc even when I'm feeding them. Will they settle down? I tried to catch the gold fish but the pond is too big and deep to make this an easy option. Advise please

Firstly, how big is the pond? It may not be big enough for the goldfish and koi as both species can grow very large, but koi can grow even larger than goldfish. Anyhow, i also find it quite strange how the koi are being chased instead of the other way round as Koi are known to be like bullies and eat and swim into anything such as knocking down potted plants in the pond.
Lastly, do not catch the goldfish, catching them would make them stressed and can lead to death or injury including loss of scales, scratches losing their "slime" layer which is to protect their skin/scales. Maybe leave them there for another week and see how it will go, if none of the koi are injured or killed/beaten up from the chasing then i guess you should try the method of catching the goldfish and move them somewhere else where it is big enough to have six goldfish living in them.

you may find that it will turn round when the koi have been in longer and they will start to chase the goldfish, that's what happend to me. i took the goldfish out and put them in a seperate pond

All maturing Goldfish practice bullying to some extent. they have a peckling order where a picks on b who picks on c etc.. They are closely related enough to koi to take their roughhousing out on them.. If you don't have a big pond, i suggest you construct some rock crevices and caves where the Koi can get away from them

I know this is extreme but I have former feeder goldfish who is now 4 " long and I had him a in a tanlk with a friedrichsthalli cichlid that had only only one good eye, . I came back from vacation today to finf that goldfish chased him so much he jumped out of the tank. Bear in mind goldfish live 50 years and can weight 50 pounds.

The Koi will outgrow tany fancyh goldfish and turn the tables on them as long as they survivIe. If yopu hav Ccomets, tjhey get just as big as Koi... Ii the meantime, make sure you you have come Kordon Fish Protector on handed for any one of them that get scratched up. it is the only product that has reall coollidal fish slime componenets in it so any slime that is lost can be replaced.
