Is this Table Any Good? please assist

Hi everyone, I'm not a License Massage Therapist yet, however I am almost done w/ school and I have so many people thats want me to work on them. Now I did read the thread about "Choosing Your First Table', however I just don't have the money yet to pay for the tables I have read about. I saw this table at a really affordable price on http://www.massagewarehouse.com, I would love the crituque from you. What do you think, should I buy this, just to use for now until I advance somemore and get more clients. As for now its just co-workers, and my fellow friends at the supermarket. This table is UL listed and comes as a complete package. I don't have it, but I bought my chair from this company and absolutely love it. They were great to do business with, too.

I have an Earthlite (Everest) and I like it a lot so far.

The only thing I see with this package you are looking at is that the face cradle doesn't look like the adjustable kind and the pad looks like the one that isn't as comfortable. You might consider upgrading to the better face cradle and pad. Other than that it looks good.

I think this is pretty much the table I have. I got it from a non MT friend for trade. It's fine, I wouldn't want to lug it around all the time. I also have a foam eggcrate to make it a bit softer.

When I upgrade I will make these changes....wider than 29", a "reiki" table or one that doesn't have those end pieces on it, and also a table that has head rest capability on both ends.

I've had this table for 3 years and it has held up well. Nothing is wrong with it. It's a good starter table....but if you can afford the extra width especially then I recommend it. Either that or get the arm extensions (which I keep meaning to get) because bigger clients have a hard time keeping their arms on the table.

edit: I agree get the adjustable head rest...and also a fleece cover to make it all the more comforable.

Earthlite's a decent table. But spend a bit more for the adjustable face cradle--this is an absolute necessity, and yes, get a fleece at the bare minimum. It will not only help protect your new investment but it adds some softness and keeps the sheets from feeling chilly from the vinyl.

You can also put a couple inches of foam on it (from a fabric/craft store. You can also use eggcrate from any bedding department, which is better than nothing), unless it's going to be your outcall table. If it is, spring for a table cart shortly after you start working. Your shoulders will thank you.

My table (another brand) has the 'Reiki' end plates and I find the absence of the cross-bars very nice (storing and retrieving things underneath is easier), but my other table has them and it doesn't bother me when working. It's not really a big deal unless you sit a lot to work and want to tuck your legs underneath.

One thing I paid for and really never used other than to make a nice place to sleep outside the new puppy's crate is the option that allows you to disconnect cables to make the table lie flat on the floor. I use Thai mats for all floorwork so this was moot.

Wider table is better.

I have the Earthlite Harmony III and its fine. It was cheap, works great for school purposes and I paid so little for it that I can probaly sell it for about what I paid and upgrade after gradutation. And yeah like everyone says, get the adjustable face cradle. I have that and its great.

I just went and ordered my second Pisces Production table, they upgraded a few of the things I didn't like in the past and I just couldn't resist. Above all, I love the strap suspension underneath the table, I've never seen a female client complain or "adjust" about her breasts not sitting right and all the other tables I've used (Earthlite, Oakworks, etc), my female clients, especially the larger breasted ones, have had a complaint or adjustment about.

Yes, it looks like lawn furniture from underneath, but aren't those comfortable too :roll:
