Ok so I have 2 baby female gerbils. Coco (8 weeks old) and Ella (5 weeks old). Basically I'm trying to get them to bond. I have them currently in two separate cages and all day today I've been switching them back and forward between their cages. Then the end of the day I put them in my temp box with a divider. It's like a vertical 1/4 inch wire. I can't leave them in it all day cas it's only holding up with tape, so I have to watch it constantly. Anyway when Coco and Ella were in the box they went straight up and sniff each other. And then Ella squeezed her head through a lil and Coco was licking her. Well im not sure exactly what she was doing to her but she doing something to her and Ella was squeaking a bit. But Ella didn't move her head back at all. And then she just stayed pressed up against the divider for the rest of the time in the box. Coco on the other hand was going crazy gnawing at the bar and then started trying to jump over the divider. And nearly did one time. But I caught her.
Anyway after all if this do you think that this is good progress? Do you think I should take the divider down next time? Like I've only been at this a day.
Also If two gerbils disliked each other would they still try stay near the divider?
(I'm totally new to all of this so just need opinions)
Thanks so much for reading this
