Introducing a young cat to an older, protective cat?

Hello! This is kind of long but I'd really appreciate it if you guys stayed to answer my question.
I have a Maine Coon/Tabby mix, and she's about eight-nine-ish years old. She thinks she's the queen of the house, and hisses at new people. She doesn't like to be cuddled or petted. She's awfully protective and sometimes even aggressive.
Here's the problem; I want another kitty. Not a baby, but not fully grown. I want a kitty who will permit being cuddled, lol.
Is it possible for me to bring another cat in the house with my old cat's personality? If so, HOW DO I INTRODUCE THEM? And what do I do if my cat reacts aggressively to the new cat?

My cat was younger when I introduced a kitten. She also doesn't like cuddles and gets very jeleous. The first couple of days there was drama between them but now she licks him and plays with him. It is a risk but am sure if you show your current cat lots of attention she will be fine

for long involved information, do a web search for introducing cats. There are a lot of great websites out there.

Basically you will need to bring the new cat home and set it up in one room of your house. Do not force interaction for a while - depending on how your resident cat reacts. If she is grumpy and hissy, it will take longer.

Once she can be near the door with out being negative, then you can move on to the next steps.

If she is grumpy, you'll want to do some bedding exchanges after a few days.. bring out something the new kitty slept on so she can sniff it better.

The reason cats react to newcomers is they feel it is an infringement on their resources. So you want to make sure she knows that she will not lose out on any food (feed more often, leave treats near the door where the new kitty is) or any special time she gets with you or her favorite sleeping places. Praise her frequently for anything you can think of even if it feels silly. Cats are very vain, and they usually soak up praise like sunbeams. It often helps to ask your kitty to accept the new kitty and help it learn the rules of the house.

do not let them interact until she is no longer aggressive, and do it in a neutral area. If you are concerned she will be violent, bring in the new kitty in a carrier.

Never scold or yell at your resident kitty for being negative to the new kitty. She is doing what comes naturally and you'll just upset her for saying she is wrong to be unhappy. Ask her nicely not to, redirect with food or treats or toys.... seem disappointed for her not accepting the kitty... but be loving about it.

Anytime I have brought home a new kitten I leave them in a cat carrier for at least 15 minutes so the cats can sniff at each other without being hurt. Then I open the door of the carrier and wait. The kitten comes out eventually and find a place to hide where they can see most of the place. When they feel a bit safer they start exploring on their own. It takes cat a little while to get use to one another. Kittens are use to being hissed at and smacked by their mother and won't want to fight. Instead they will back off. If the cats get into it either spray them with some water or throw a cat toy towards them to take the attention off one another.

I have done this with five cats and have never had any problem. I also brought a puppy in and the cats get along with her.
