Introducing a kitten to a 3 year old cat?

We have a 3 year old female cat. We have just bought a new baby 9 week old kitten who will be coming home with us in 4 days. I was wondering how to introduce the two girls to each other and how I go about their sleeping arrangements. Our cat sleeps in the laundry at night and I want to pit the kitten with her but I don't want anything to go wrong at night when I can't be there to watch them both.

Also... We have a catflap in the door and our cat us an outside at but I want to keep the kitten inside until she is older and not so small and vunerable.

How do I go about getting the two to be friends or at least peaceful towards each other!?? Our cat is pretty territorial and when she sees a cat outside she chases it away but other than that she has never bitten not scratched me and is very placid and sleeps on her back an falls asleep to belly rubs, purring etc...
So please tell me how to introduce the baby without stressing or upset anybody!

I got a 11 week old kitten yesterday, and we have 4 adult cats already. When we introduce a new kitten, we just let them sniff each other, and only intervene if it looks like it's going to turn into violence. The first few days, there's bound to be a few spats, and don't be surprised if your kitten gets a few whacks to the nose. But it doesn't normally last long, and the adult cat will normally always accept the little one.
