Qaddafi appealed to all Arab Nations to adopt the "Gold Dinar and Silver Dirham" as the only currency used in the Middle east (Similar to the past Gold Standard). With the vast amount of gold already held by the Mid-East, were the US n European policy makers fearful that this would directly threaten the US n Euro?
