If not My Receptionist, then who?

I found an older thread but lost it. Who do you use for live phone answering service. Are there other affordable companies out there. Has My Receptionist improved since the old post. They are a bit pricey. Just trying to do some research. We have grown, I am not ready to hire a receptionist but would love to not miss phone calls while we are in sessions. Any suggestions?

Thanks, I'll check that out. I already have a website, I am not interested in scheduling appointments, just someone to answer the phone and take messages while we are in session.

Just a bit more on answering services in case that's the way you're leaning...

I used one for a couple years with a previous business and I used a local one. I physically made a visit and talked to the folks. This one had been in business for 40 years! They're employees were mostly full-time.

I think you have to be VERY careful about who you use. You can't afford to have callers (especially first time callers) be treated with less then a friendly, smiling, enthusiastic voice. Personally, I'd reather my caller get voicemail than a grumpy or rude receptionist (provided I have a way to call them back QUICKLY)

So check your local listings and see what you can find if you're looking for a live receptionist. The one I used costs $75.00/mnth for 65 calls (almost $1/call, so it aint cheap)

That is good advice. There is a chiropractor in town that uses a local service, I will call and get more info. I woud prefer to go local is possible. We are in a small town, so local is probably about 50 miles away, still closer that another state.

Just to report back. I contacted the Chiro.'s answering service. It is located about 30 miles away, very nice, great prices so I think if I do in fact go for an answering service, I will use the same one.
