I hate sales talk

I am a recently licensed therapist and have been doing chair massage at a local farmers market for a month now. I've always hated high pressure sales talk, but I think that just sitting back expecting people to just show up isn't getting me anywhere. I have friends and regulars, but thats all for now.Anyone have any tips on ways to bring people in? What to say, do, etc? Ways that truly show your intent and confidence that isnt a high pressure sales dribble approach? PS I live in a fairly conservative valley......

Bring a friend to work on during the slow periods, preferably one that oooohs and ahhs while you work. People are always drawn by watching a chair worker in action. They are also suddenly reminded of their own aches and pains...and gosh, its just good to have a chance to sit down while one's significant other ponders too long over a purchase. In return, your friend can also hand out your flyers and business cards when you have someone on the chair. Let him or her do the sales pitch for you, since he or she knows your work first hand.I know that sounds a little off-beat, but I had an outgoing friend who loved to eforum.xxx along to some of my gigs, so I put her to work one day. She was such a good "shill" *lol* that she drew the interest of passers-by. When I was busy, she handed out flyers with an introductory discount, and kept roster for me as people signed up. As I got busier, she had less time on chair, so I would give her instead, a perceneforum.xxxe of my take.Or... circulate among the vendors. Get to know them and their products...offer them a great deal on chair before or after the crowds, or during their breaks. When customers see their favorite vendors enjoying your work, they will inquire more about you.  Its great to get that thumbs up from people you are working with side to side. And once again, someone will be doing your advertising for you

My best sales pitch without being a sales pitch is very simple! Eye contact and a smile. I have noticed when I have someone in my chair and I am working them over, many people will look to see what I am doing. I try to keep my head up, make eye contact and smile at them. It relaxes them about something potentially scary, like chair massage. It has been working well for me!

Nice, I really love the eye contact & smile thing Bringing a friend is smart, too...As far as sales talk, it's important to come from a place of "wanting for the client what the client wants for him/herself"... if you are really clear that you are coming from a place of service, it won't even phase you if someone thinks that you're not... thinks you're a slimy used car salesman, etc... you'll know that they're making it up in their own head and projecting that on you.More questions, less statements... more listening, less talking... notice you have two ears and only one mouth. Ask folks if they've had massage before, what that was like, if they've had a regular massage therapist, what that was like, what their experience with the troubled parts of their body is, what they want--if anything--to change about how they experience their body, etc.If you are truly coming from a place of caring for this person, it won't matter to you if they become your client or not... what will matter is finding out what they want and need, and then offering what resources you can... that might be you and your services... it might be someone/something else... and what it will ultimately depend on is whether or not BOTH of you feel like it's a fit.Be respectful, honor where they're at. Ask permission before going deeper: "Can I ask  you a question about that?" or making a suggestion: "I do work that can often help with that kind of muscle pain. Would it be ok if I told you about it?"Be bold enough to follow through: "Does that sound like something you'd be interested in?" "Would you like to book an introductory appointment?" "Would it be ok if I got your address and mailed you some more information?" "Can I follow up with you next week?"
