my dog, dexter, loves to play especially with other dogs. He is the one that jumps around, rolls around on the floor, runs all over the place, etc., he has a lot of energy. So when we put the 2 month old kitten by him he gets really hyper, he wants to play, but he don't realize that he is gonna hurt the kitten because he is so big. His tail is wagging the whole time, he wants to play but I don't want him to accidentally hurt the cat. I also don't want the kitten to grow up and not like my dog. When my dog goes to smell the kitten the kitten swips his pays at his nose and my dog jumps back, he thinks the kitten is playing but I don't think the kitten is playing. The kitten does the same thing to me and my wife, when we walk into the kitchen where we keep the kitten during the day he runs at our feet to scratch and bite, when we try to pet him he tries to bite and scratch us. I have never been one for cats but my wife wanted one, I don't like cats because they are very slick and quick to scratch & bite at anytime. At least you have an idea when a dog might be angry, a cat you don't.
I want to introduce my kitten to my dog, I don't want my dog to feel left out because he has lived here his whole life. How do I introduce these two without getting anybody hurt by accident? Also, what can I do to calm my kitten down so I can pet him so he can get used to me and my wife, we have had him since he was a month old so we have had him for a month.
any help would be appreciated, thanks.
