how to introduce my new kitten to my 15 year old male cat?

my current cat, sam, is such a misery, and has an awful proplem with spraying everywhere, so we're worried he'll spray all over the house when we get out female kitten this sunday, we also have a 6 year old cavalier king charles spaniel too!

i'm wondering how i should go about introducing the kitten to my cat? he is essentially 'my' cat and always has been, apparently he's just always trusted me, and loves me more than anything, shall i hold my current cat when introducing them and give him loads of attention so he doesnt think im replacing him?

hes such a misery though, i'm worried he'll hiss or try and scratch her - what do i do if he does?
