How to introduce my new dog to my old one?

We recently adopted a Rat Terrier/Lab mix who is very energetic, sweet, and playful. We've had her for about two weeks now and she seems to be adjusting to life in our house well. However, we got another dog today. (Or should I say, we brought back a dog that we used to have. ) He is very sweet as well, except he is only sweet with humans, and when it comes to other dogs, he get's a bit offensive. He growls any time she gets close to him, and she doesn't do anything specifically, just follows him around and sniffs. Is there any specific way I should go about introducing them to each other?

You should have introduced them on neutral ground. Due to your situation both dogs are going to feel the other is the new dog. Make sure they both get lots of attention and don't feel left out. Take them for walks together and let them both know they will attention. Normally I would say give the first dog extra attention, but in this case I'm not sure which dog that would be both dogs are already bonded to you, so it is tricky.

2 Weeks after we got out Pomeranian, we got a pekingese! How we introduced each other, we bought a baby gate, set it up into the door of our kitchen, and each day for a week, put on each side, once it got TOO crazy, we put them back, did that for a week and was fine after. 2 years later, they had 2 litters of puppies! To this day, they're soul mates. can't separate them, it's pretty adorable, good luck!
