How to introduce a new kitten to my 5 year old cat ?

Hello ,I really need help on this :

Ok, here's the thing; I have a spoiled baby like 5 year old male cat he's neutered and he's a Ragdoll. I am planning on adopting a 2 months old male kitten and I was hopping that he will bring colors back to my boy since I've noticed how bored he's getting lately. Also he has been leaning all day long listening to the birds and outdoor cats, I never let him out side because the cats are all infected and they're aggressive. I have noticed that he likes other animals but he is super shy, when the birds flutter he thinks they're mad or something so he runs away, one time I introduced him to my friend's kitten he came running to her because he wanted to play, she hissed and he hid under the couch until he made sure she wasn't near him.

I know that he wants a friend and I'm adopting this kitty because I need to save her since the second option was in the hands of neglectful kids, and I know that because I know them since we are relatives.

I know that he won't get along with the kitten right away, I'm willing to wait months. But I need help on how to introduce them and what to do with them ? I really don't want my baby to think that I replaced him, because he is really my whole life and reason of my happiness.

One of the best things to do is.. sort of 'ignore' the baby kitten and keep socializing with your 5 year old cat normally. Don't force them on each other either. Let them meet on there own.

I had a 3 year old cat and I brought in a 8 week old kitten. My older cat was very mad! He just hit away in a corner for a week straight. Eventually them become friends. Now they love each other.

don't let them see each other(unless they all ready did) let the older cat smell the younger cats stuff so they get used to smelling each other. then let them see each other. they might recognize the smell so they wont mind each other to much. then they will get to know each other better cause they already each others smell

Here is what I send home with people who adopt my kittens if they already have a cat. Also if at all possible, let the kitten stay with its mother until it is 12 weeks old. That is the age at which kittens should be separated from their mothers to ensure they are physically, socially and emotionally ready for the world.

Tips for Introducing Your New Kitten to the Established Cats in the House

With all steps and ideas remember you are the best one to decide when to advance to the next step and/or what ideas to employ. Different cats & kittens will take different amounts of time to get used to each other from hours to days to a week or more.

Hissing, swats (no claws) and growling are normal while the cats get used to each other and establish dominance. Fighting and swatting with claws are signs that the cats are not yet ready to be together full time.

1.Allow your established cat to meet the new kitten while the kitten is in the pet carrier.

2.Keep your new kitten in a small room with food, water & litter. Let the cats sniff at each other and paw at each other underneath the door.

3.Give each cat something to lie on to get their scent on it (old t-shirt, towel or blanket.) Then switch the items so they get used to each other’s scent.

4.Offer feeding time or special treats together but in separate bowls.

5.Allow your cats supervised time together making sure to give ample attention to the established cat.

To Bob: If you do not believe there are dominance issues with cats you have never lived with an alpha cat much less 2 or 3! Oh, yes! There can be dominance issues! Also you cannot test for FIP. Perhaps you meant FIV. FIP hits at random and cannot be confirmed until the cat is dead, unfortunately. It is a scary disease because it can hit just about any cat and there is no diagnosis and no cure.
