How to introduce a dog to a kitten?

I just got a 6 week old kitten yesterday and all day yesterday we kept it in a seperate room with toys, a bed and some food & water. But today when I introduced my 7 year old, male Cavelier King Charles Spaniel to the kitten, all he did was try to bite it and attack it!!! The kitten got along with the 5 dogs the other owners had, but what should I do to make kitten and doggie friends?? please help!!!
