I am adopting a cat later this week. She's a young female about a year old, very sweet when not around other cats and her previous owner had her declawed. I would like to have a buddy for her but the foster lady says she's a little funny around other cats possibly because of her being declawed. The other cat I have in mind is a little older, 4 yrs, also a female, timid and very sweet temperament. I'm hoping if there is just one other as opposed to seven (that's how many the foster lady has), that she will warm up to the other cat. I wanted to know what's the best way to introduce them. Should I get one then the other or should I get them both on the same day to eliminate any territorial behavior? Thanks
The second cat is a shelter cat, they let her have free roam of the shelter and won't put her with other cats because she was being bullied. She is very timid and spends most of her time in hiding. I seriously doubt she is going to dominate the other one, that's why I am interested in her. I wouldn't put the declawed cat in a situation where she'd be bullied.
