How should i begin my 'Introducing Me' summer art project?

i have to produce sketch books and a final piece for my new art foundation course in a months time. I have to use a wide range of materials, including written work, drawn work, and photographed research to investigate the subject matter. Taking the title 'Introducing Me' i have to choose a way to intoduce myself through a final piece which will be presented at the beginning of term. im really struggling with ways to begin work in my sketch book and how to start it.. any help/ideas/advice would be much appreciated.
