How do you introduce a bird (canary) it's new home?

I'm getting a pet Canary some time this month, so I want to know some things as,
-How do you drive a canary from the pet store to my home without scaring it, or is it scared at all?
Second,
-How do I get it to trust me enough for it not to fly away from me when I come near it.
and,
-How would I teach it to come to me and land on my finger?

The website I learned most of my canary take care is Canary Adviser. I couldn't find an article covering this.

It will be in a box so they cannot see where they are going, it will be scared but only for awhile theres no way around it.

Getting a birds trust will takes months, dont just expect for a connection right away.

You would first have to start just resting your hand in the cage or letting it out and being in the same room. Getting near it and it not flying away could take alot of time but then you would have to teach it to step up on your finger from the cage. It could be a year before you get it to fly and land on your finger.
