How do I introduce my new boyfriend to my parents?

There is this guy in my life named Jason. I met him about a year and a half ago and since then he has become my best friend. We literally know everything about each other and are always thinking the same way. We have been through so much together and no matter what I was doing I was thinking about him. I was in a relationship when I met him which put a hold on “usâ€. I just recently broke up with my boyfriend after 2 years because I figured why spend the rest of my life with someone who still doesn’t know anything about me and can careless. Since the ‘break up’, I have been spending a lot of time with Jason and we are both ready to commit to a relationship. I want to introduce him to my parents but I don’t know how to. I never talked about Jason to my parents because I knew it was unfaithful for when I was in a relationship with someone else. Also, the break up was only a couple weeks ago so I don’t want my parents thinking I’m just bouncing to another relationship when they have no idea how close Jason and I are. Seems simple, right? There are only a couple speed bumps in introducing him to my parents. I am 20 years old and he is 26 years old. I don’t think my parents would like the age difference too much. And to add on to that, he has an 8 year old daughter. I don’t know how my parent will react to that. I’m afraid they will not understand that the connection Jason and I have is one of a kind. Does anyone have any ideas on how to have him meet my parents? Please post any comments or ideas you may have.

Well the bouncing around thing really depends on what you both want. Does Jason want to meet them sooner or can you both put it off for a while? No matter what you decide to do, realize you are 20 and as you get older age does tend to matter less. I'm not saying date a 35 year old, but what really matters is how you two interact. As for approaching the kid and age subject to your parents, all I can say is be straight forward. You have to just tell them because you canbring up all the justifications you want, but that won't change how they feel about him for a long while. Perhaps tell them seperately that you're that close? They may not get it at first, but with any luck they will see it over time.
