I have an eight year old female beagle who is fairly quiet (not the typical active beagle), and we are planning to get a cat in a few days. We took in a stray kitten once before, but the dog wasn't fond of him because the kitten was so active and she spent a lot of time sitting in one spot to keep the cat from "attacking" her. I think the dog was relieved when the cat disappeared six months later.
This time we want to adopt an adult cat from a shelter and I was wondering if you have any tips on introducing the two pets to each other so I don't end up with an anxious dog who spends the next two weeks wetting the floor (typical anxious behavior for her). I want my dog to be able to get along with the cat and vice versa.
