How can I introduce my kitten to my dog.?

So I have a 5 month old kitten named Olive (indoor cat) and she is really curious as to who is on the other side of the door (Homer my 3 year old Beagle). I've tried to get them to interact but Olive doesn't want a bit of it yet she is incredibly curious of him and watches him out the windows for majority of her days.

I also think she believes she is a dog as well.

I know Homer is good with cats since he loved my old cat Coco before she passed away. I'm just wondering if there is a way I can get them to meet face to face without Olive going spastic. Also wondering, after she gets spayed on tuesday and once she is all healed to whether or not she will be more accepting of him?
