I am a new member of this site. I am also new to Costa Rica. I am one of the new owners of the famouse Horseshoe Casino across the street from the Del Rey. I am very proud to announce we are 3/4 way through our $1,000,000 renovation of the Horseshoe casino. We are the only casino anywhere that also has a cabaret/niteclub liscense. You know what that means don't you? You can play your favorite casino game while beautiful girls dance completely nude for you. You can also visit our private VIP rooms on our 2nd floor. good luck. actually...incase you werent told...the horseshoe was a caberet nightclub when i first started going to SJO. If I remember right...it was girls and stripping downstairs...and blackjack tables upstairs. Hopefully you can do better at the concept than they did. of course...starting with hot chica talent will help...though I wouldnt want the headache of having to manage that aspect of it.

I was at the Horseshoe on Saturday night. Twice, actually. Saw a lot of renovations going on (especially upstairs). Good luck on the venture and I look forward to checking it out next time I am in San Jose.

I wonder what the business model will be? The "VIP" room idea sounds suspiciously like the Elite/Puro Platino/Tango India/Atlantis model. I hope not. But perhaps they have something totally different in mind. They DO have the Del Rey across the street to keep prices 'down' to 'only' $100 an hour

I would think/hope that the influence of the DR and KL right across the street would prevent the Horseshoe from becoming another over-priced Atlantis. I think we all can agree that Atlantis is designed to squeeze money out of the first-time, wide-eyed gringo who doesn't know about the other options out there. It is hard to believe that visitors to the Horseshoe are likely to be green enough to pay the inflated chica prices.

Lubeman, Maybe you should read the poll/thread recently posted by BKTuna, and see what we believe SJ needs. It sounds like you have all of the ingredients for a business model that answers that need.

This represents a good opportunity for Lubeman to step in and fill this niche. If he pays attention to the above thread I think he'll have a real winner that will rival the DR and other establishents.

Thank you for all the coments. What we are planning to have is an upscale adult niteclub with gambling. We want to provide a fun upscale atmosphere. Unlike many other Adult clubs, We want to have a place that you don't have to feel like you are being ripped off or taken advantage of because you are Americans. Every employee of the Horseshoe will speak english. We will ofer Ameircan style food. We are from Florida and we thought this place would be a lot of fun. After all, that's why every one of us goes to Costa Rica. For those of us that are married, we are going to do things a little different. We will have 2 websites. One that stricktly talks about the casino. You can be comfortable showing your wife where you went while you were in CR. Then there will be our private website. You will need a a user id and password and there you will will be able to find out about the night club portion. It will discuss Feature performers, our female staff, specials, photos etc.
Our renovation should be done by med Oct. We will be having a grand reopening. We will be offering lots of great deals for CRT Members.

Speaking with Lubeman yesterday I feel they are on the right track and have the pulse of the membership in mind. They are very anxious to earn our business without ever feeling like we are there to be ripped off.

Will you have Texas Hold'em Poker? How many tables? If so, I'd suggest $1/2 NL, maybe even a $0.50/$1 NL table for those of us who don't feel like blowing $300/night. You can still make the same rake on a smaller table while increasing the number of players and pot sizes.
