HEMP OIL

Hi mimi, I bought some a couple of years ago and used it in salad dressings, unfortunately, not in massage at the time!  It tasted quite nice, but very distinctive.  I would definitely try it for myself in massage when I next see it in a shop.

http://www.camdengrey.com    You can buy hemp seed oil there.  I don't know if I'd want to buy a large quantity of it since it goes rancid quite fast.  Never used it for massage before, so I can't help you there.Anyway, here is some of the details about hemp seed oil from that website... Hemp seeds produce a vegetable oil that is high in protein and can be used within a variety of foods and cosmetics. The hemp seed oil we offer you is considered “ultra natural”, is minimally refined, and is obtained by cold, expeller-pressed method. It has a characteristic vegetable odor with a yellow to green color. The seeds from which this oil is obtained are not sterilized or fumigated. Hemp seed oil’s high linoleic and linolenic acid contents make it vulnerable to spoilage. Alpha linolenic, linoleic and oleic acids––the essential fatty acids known as the omegas––make up 88% of the total fatty-acid content. Its particularly moisturizing for dry, damaged skin and for eczema and psoriasis. Hemp seed oil penetrates the skin quickly and some describe it as a “dry” oil. This oil requires cool, dark, oxygen-free storage conditions. An unopened container can be stored in the deep freezer indefinitely and in the refrigerator for a year. An opened container will last for 10 to 12 weeks in the refrigerator; at room temperature, an unopened container can last 4-6 weeks. An opened container should be used within two to four weeks. According to the Soapmaker’s Companion book: "Because of its highly unsaturated nature, I take no more than a 10% sodium hydroxide discount when I use hemp seed oil, as 20% to 30% of my total soapmaking oils; too much of this free oil in a bar of soap would spoil the bar in a hurry. To ensure a hard bar, and to delay rancidity, incorporate saturated fats and oils into a hemp seed oil formula. This is my favorite of all of the soapmaking oils that have come my way in the last couple of years." May be used up in concentrations of 2-5% in creams and lotions, 3-10% in bar soap, and 2-4% in hair care. INCI: Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil. SAP value: 192.8

Well, I don't know much about it, but I suppose you could keep out a small portion... like maybe 4 oz?  And keep that at room temp.  I don't think it would take long to use up 4 oz.

Hi Mimi, it was quite a thin-ish oil.  I kept it in the fride after opening, for a couple of months, and it was fine, no cloudyness or anything.  The bottle was quite small also, so it probably wouldn't last that long with regular use.  I found it in an organic whole foods shop in Warwick, England, where I live.

Just great on salads, especially if you add hemp seed nuts, but kind of expensive to use in the treatment room.  Maybe if there was a hemp massage oil available.  (Of which I'm sure there is somewhere).

Dunno if you saw this part of the exceprt from that website I posted the other day... Hemp seed oil penetrates the skin quickly and some describe it as a "dry" oil. If it penetrates quickly, I'd think you'd be using a lot of oil per a massage?  Well, if you can find a sample of hemp oil, let us all know how it goes.  The camden grey company will send out samples, but I don't know how much.  I personally prefer to use massage butters.

Hello Mimi, you can find hemp oil on ebay.  There is quite a few sellers of it.  There is on out there that supose to made from cannabis and contain trace amounts of THC and is supose to assit in relaxation.  I myself have not tried it yet but plan on it in the near future.

I use a hemp shampoo and a help lotion. Talk about moisturize your skin. I love it! sweet smelling, non greasy. The shampoo is wonderful too.. I love it!was a bit hesitant about it, with what it is.. but the indians used all kinds of herbs for everything from food to medicine for the body.. I am not condoning smoking it, but I am all about natural experiences...   Hemp oil can be mixed with essential oils and makes a wonderful oil for massage..
