help 10 pts..eye glasses newbie?

My first time going to an eye dr to get an eye exam and glasses!
He prescribed me 1.50 is that bad ? What is the highest ?

I picked out frames, he said it will be done in 3 days. How does he put the lense in there ?

Hi Katie.

First of all, Don't fret! Every ones eyes are different and you're not going blind My right eye (the worse one) is -2.25.

Based on 20/20 vision, you can go from -20 to +20. I never got glasses/contacts till my eyes were sitting at -1.5. It's just not THAT much difference anything closer to 0.

And you will LOVE the sight you get in your new glasses

1.5 is incredibly mild whether that is plus or minus. The frames are made so they accept a lens . The optiican doesn't do this , he sends off the frames and perscription to a specialized lab who assemble the lenses to your perscription and set them in the frame. How exactly depends on teh type of frame you have picked. How the lenses are set in the frame makes a big difference to the comfort and look of the lenses although this matters more at higher perscriptions. Its the advantage of getting teh eye doctor to do it, I had one set of frames come back which I was o.k. with but the person in the eye doctors didn't think the set was as good as it might be appearance wise so back it went. When it finally came back I could see she was right.

1.50 in the scope of things is not horrible. if this is your first pair of glasses it will make a big difference in seeing. everything should be more clear!

The lenses are ground out to the prescription and then when you pick out a frame a machine cuts the lenses down to fit into the frame you picked.
