Glendale Police Detectives recently identified the suspect in a string of massage parlor burglaries as 23-year-old Mitchell Briggs.
On Sept. 8, detectives from the Foothills Investigation Team learned of a string of burglaries involving a single male subject breaking into massage parlors across the Valley.
In many of these cases the suspect encountered employees of the businesses who were sleeping inside when he made entry. Because he was brandishing a weapon, controlling their movements and demanding money, many of these cases were classified as robberies.
In one case, the Glendale Real Time Crime Center identified a possible suspect vehicle. Detectives began conducting research and found the registered owner was on probation and had prior violent and theft related criminal history.
During the investigation, detectives became aware of approximately 25 cases across the Valley. Glendale Police took the lead on the investigation and worked alongside other agencies.
On Sept. 18, a search warrant was served at the suspect's Glendale residence, and evidence and proceeds of these crimes was found inside.
Ultimately, the suspect was arrested and charged with multiple counts of armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault and burglary in the first degree. Cases from at least six jurisdictions around the Valley were cleared.
The Glendale Police foothills investigation team, fugitive apprehension unit, narcotics enforcement team, gateway investigation team, violent crimes, K-9, patrol, RTCC, human trafficking, drones and SWAT teamed up on the investigation.
