Hi,
I'm new to MassagePlanetL and just finishing up massage school this month. In May I took a Reiki I class and just yesterday had my first opportunity to treat someone other than self! My friend had surgery and is not in a position to receive massage, so it was perfect to try reiki. It was interesting.
Is it normal to be not so sure that much is happening the first time? My client also was sort of "eh" about it. I do plan on checking in with him today and I am going to do another tx tomorrow... but for him, he missed having the massage aspect of bodywork and felt like it was like meditating, something he can do on his own... He did feel heat at times.
For me, I felt definite surges of energy at certain points, itchiness in my hands at one point and lots of energy around the surgery site. At times I wasn't sure when to move on, just did when I felt it was right, I guess trusting in my intuition. I also felt the urge to start giving massage instead - it took a while to get in the mode, to still myself! I suppose at some point a combination will be appropriate and may be what I do tomorrow.
the really cool part was how happy and light, awake and aware I felt as I was driving home. I felt absolutely great!
