Financial Reasons I need to put this on hold

Hi everyone,

I did some recrunching of numbers last night and with the loans I currently have out from my BA degree adding another 17k onto them right now is not financially possible in the end. I will put myself into such a state of debt that I will have a really hard time getting out of it. My loans have not dispersed yet and I can cancel them out and I only have done 2 weekends of work so I am not loosing any major time. It is something I realized last night and it does hurt but I need to think about my financial situation right now. I am still going to be on these boards and contribute but I am putting school on hold for now. :

i know how hard and disappointing this is for you. i wish i'd recrunched years ago and began with more sure-footing.

i applaud your discipline and strength. a *truly* admire you for this.

as my financial advisor has told me, while she's trying to help me dig out of my own debt:

(((hugs))) It's never easy to put off our dreams when reality gets in the way. But, it is a necessity at times, and I'm sorry that is the case (this time) for you. But when the time is right, you will carry it through and I bet it will be all the sweeter then.

I'm so sorry you're having to put school on hold!

Is it possible for you to attend a community college massage therapy program? They are much less expensive and will give you the basics that you need to get started. You can build on that knowledge as you go.

actually there is a community college out here that does that kind of program and I heard it is actually pretty good I should look into it for later on. Thanks for the heads up.

Sorry to hear that you won't be able to start school when you had planned. It's good that you took a moment before you ended up deeper in a financial mess. As my dad says, all good things are worth waiting for... I'll add to that - just don't give up on your dream. Glad to hear that you are going to stick around MassagePlanetL.

Sorry to hear of your dilemma.

I would agree with another responder, and suggest you look around for a lower cost program. I just finished a program in Northern California, through a "Skill Center" Educational endeavor, a part of the local City school system. The cost of tuition for a 500 hour course was $385! (WASC approved); Shocking, but true.

Stick to your plan and continue with a lot of studying and practicing on the side. You are probably, already great at massage; you just don't have the diploma.

Its been a while since I have been on the boards and just checking now. Life happened lol. Thanks for the heads up on that. I am actually good at it I have been told so I am going to look for a lower cost program in my area.
