face hole one end, back rest the other?!

Hi,
Can someone explain why almost all the tables i find have face hole on one end and the adjustable back on the other end..how does that make sense?!

I've never had a table with either - don't like face holes myself. That said I would guess they are at opposite ends as you will never use them both at the same time - lift backrest and expect a client to lie face down. Also with the backrest up I think it would be quite uncomfortable having a big hole in the back.

RE: HOLE - well what i can i say, have not got a clue, i have never come across that before, are you sure that you have not been looking at 'seconds' goods ! the one i have and all the ones that i have either seen or worked on, have always had hole are back rest together.
RE: FOZZYO - it is not comfortable, the hole is only the size of you face, and when you are on your back, you have a 'pad' that fills the hole and is held in place by velcro.

It is to help make them stronger, if you put the lift where the hole is then you have to use a more complicated mechanism for the lift so it does not run across the face hole.[/align]

well,thats the 1st time ive come across that sort of table,mine has the hole and adjuster at the same end.i found those ones quite bizarre really.[:-]

this looks like a cheap dual purpose product geared at unwary spa buyers: backrest for facials, face hole and cradle for massage. However, I've never found the face hole concept comfortable and it doesn't allow for adjusting the neck position at all.

I would personally stay away fromanything like this. Cheap tables don't hold up in the long run, clients can feel how cheap they are in terms of comfort and stability,and ifyou need portability at all, they are without exception heavy and cumbersome to put up and take down. You will hate it within days of purchase.

Go with a name brand table that has earned trust: Oakworks, Custom Craftworks, etc. I like Oakworks because it will take a lot of abuse and still looks and works great. It also has two cams for positioning the head/neck in endless combinations and I can adjust it with one hand and use the other to support the face cradle. Many don't have two cams (Custom Craftworks) or require two hands to adjust (Golden Ratio).

Yes, they cost more, but you will still be using it ten years from now and if not, you can always sell a quality used tablefor a reasonable price. If you cannot afford evena lower-priced model quality table, buy one used.

Ask your instructors, see what is being used at your school, look at what other professionals use when you get a massage and ask why they chose it, what they'd change, and so on. What are you going to use your table for? Does it need to go low, or flat? How often will you need to move it?

NEVER BUY A TABLE SOLELY ON PRICE.
