So you had these charges of over 8000 US, in San Diego. Lets not blame just the Mexicans, at least they would have charged just 800 ! Well, in suspect places, these things are very possible, so we have to be on gaurd, whether U.S, Mexico, India or Timbuctoo !

San Bourns is an upscale chain. (They have a massageplanete plus a merchandise mix that includes about everything from electronics to tourist goods.) There is one at 8th and Revolucion and another in Plaza Zona Rio.

I doubt the store and/or its starff was "in on it." I'd bet the thief is a good con man who was able to pass as you since he was able to make purchases at a number of stores on both sides of the border.

Here is another piece of the story. When I checked my credit card transaction after I got my wallet stolen, I had this transaction with a business name 'San Born massageplanete in TJ'. I had three cards in my wallet and all three had this transaction with amount of $8.99 on the same night before this fucker went on a shopping spree the next day in San Diego and Chula Vista($8000 in all). Good thing that I got all the credits from the card companies but my blood boils when I think this fucker had hell of a time making 15 purchases all over the places like Target, Kmart, Home Depot, Office Depot and even PetsMart ??
Next time I visit TJ, I am planning to report this to TJ police. Any fellow monger recognize this business name 'San Born massageplanete in TJ' ?

Well anyway, she has fair complexion, about 5' 3" speaks no english and was wearing t-shirt with a jean. She is a cutie. She might be working in a eforum.xxx team with a 'massage' guy who hangs out near CC. This guy first talked to me and then this bitch showed up. She first talked to this guy for a few minutes and then approached me. After years of mongering in TJ without any incidents like this, I let my guard down. I am usually very good at being alert once I am in TJ.

Hey, better safe than sorry. I agree there is no need to take extraordinary measures. But, I still see no good reason to take unnecessary chances.

It is a good idea to limit your exposure, just in case you do get mugged (possibly by cops) or pickpocketed. Unless you are planning to make a large purchase while in TJ, I can see no reason to be carrying credit cards or ATM cards myself. Bring only the cash you will need (however much that may be) and do not keep most of it in your wallet- a moneybelt wouldn't hurt.

Why take chances? I don't have any "macho" agenda.

Safety should always be a concern, anywhere you go, but I don't think you need to follow some of the extraordinary precautions some mongers set out for themselves. Ordinary precautions should work just fine, do some of the same thing you would do at night in any major large city in the US, which include carrying an ATM card, some money, and looking over your shoulder from time to time. If you can find a money belt that's great, if not, well that's ok too. All too often I read in these sites funny stories; like about a month ago, when some newbie idiot, tore up his t-shirt and sewed up secret pockets for his shirt as he was planning a date in Tijuana with an internet escort! It was fairly obvious the guy was reading these sex forums, and felt he needed that over-degree of protection.

I usually go to Tijuana with about $300, but if I go with a friend and if I'm buying him and his BG drinks too, that $300 is nothing. You need access to more money and a quick run to Revolution and 2nd Street you can get that money fast, a trip to your car on the other side of the border is just too long, but the time you make it back, your chica would have gone home or went upstairs with someone else.

If a cop tries to shake you down, and makes you give him money from your ATM machine, be a MAN, and tell him NO, he can't have your money, if he put s a gun to your head give him the cash, and call your bank the next day and tell them you were ROBBED!! Better yet take a credit card, as credit cards offer more protection than ATM cards, you can lock up the rest in your trunk, but take at least one card in Tijuana with you.{BTW I doubt that anyone is going to get robbed at gun point by the TJ Police, its' just an example I was giving}

Now OCHobby concerns me because he doesn't give the bars name, and readers might get the impression that 'Bar Girls' try to steal your money. I have never had a BarGirl in the zona try to steal money from me. I have not even read in these forums where a bargirl from the zona stole money from individuals while they are in the bar. There have been a few cases where the girls have stolen money during the session upstairs.

Revolution is a little bit worst than the Zona, and you should take a little bit more precautions especially with the waiters. But I don't know any strip clubs on Revolution where an 'entourage of Tequila pouring waiters, pour down Tequila while blowing their whistles. I think they only do that in the tourist bars and restaurants where San Diego coeds and young kids hang out.
Maybe a San Diego coed girl with big tits robbed OCHobby? { Maybe the strip club do what OCHObby says,but I don't hang out at those clubs, because they are always so dead, every time I walk into those places, that I turn around and walk back out, except the higher end clubs on south REVO}

The only other places where the girls might rob you on Revolution are the tranny bars, and they ain't girls, but yes trannys are excellent pickpockets. So yes here, take all your extraordinary precautions with you if you plan on visiting a tranny bar like Bambi's. But if your going to just visit the zona, relax, maybe have a few beers, and get laid.

Excellent tips- Burt. Fill the decoy wallet with a couple of bogus credit cards (the kind that come in junk mail) an expired library card or Blockbuster card, or whatever to make it look more real.

NEVER bring credit cards/debit cards to TJ (even some legit business will commit credit card fraud) just bring the cash needed (maybe $200) and ID to cross the border. If you run out of cash, go back across the border- stop at the ATM and return for round 2. Or, maybe you've had enough for one day after all.

Also, take your pants (with wallet, keys, and cell phone, etc) with you into the bathroom if you are undressed. I developed this habit in AMPs. If she is honest, she will actually appreciate your caution because it helps avoid misunderstandings later.

Sadly, this happens too often in strip clubs--not all the time, but too often. That's why I recommend wearing a T-shirt inside out (or using a money belt, etc.) in a strip club. The experiences of too many mongers has shown that having anything in your pockets isn't prudent.

I never carry my wallet when mongering in TJ. Just the basics, cash (kept in different pockets, one to buy drink/food and the other for the deed), DL, passport, and sometimes a CC, all kept in a buttoned/zipped front shirt/pants pocket.

Yes you owe that friendly guy big time, reading first, I thought he was one of those swindlers who would demand money from you in the end. Well, there are still some good guys even in "bad" places ! Sorry to hear about your wallet loss, same happened to me in Miami bar a year ago. Actually my wallet just fell off a short pocket jeans, but a good waiter in Miami found and returned it back. That was the good part ! No money lost, I gave a small reward to the waiter who now works in HK i think. Also the chica I was with, was quite upset, and very helpful and l lost my heart in the bargain. In hindsight I wish I had just lost the wallet and would have recovered sooner As the guys posted, have to be careful and not carry all cards/cash in one "basket". I guess thats commonsense when going in any suspect places whether TJ or otherwise.

I didn't write this additional story in my original thread because I thought the story was getting too long. Anyway, while I was at the taco stand after I found out I got my wallet stolen, there was this chicano guy in black security uniform with a cap who claimed he was working as a contract police officer in TJ. He spoke fluent english as he was originally born in Puerto Rico according to him. First, I thought he was bullshitting me about this contract police stuff. But as TJ police cars were driving by, he would wave at them and the police guys waved back at him. So I gathered he was telling the truth. Anyway, this guy really helped me alot. He personally drove my car with me to the municipal police station to file police report and we walked around the ZN hoping to find the bitch. Here is the interesting thing. As we were walking around, we found this guy who spoke fluent english at a taco stand. My friend(contract police) talked to him for a few seconds in spanish and the guy seemed to know the bitch who stole my wallet. He says that the bitch is doing this for a living and he actually gave us the name of the hotel where the bitch usually stays. We saw three uniformed police officers near CC so we walked there and my friend started talking to them to get reinforcement. They were talking in spanish so I couldn't quite understand what is going on but from the looks of it, I could tell those three police guys were refusing to follow us to the hotel the bitch is staying in. Later my friend told me that many TJ police officers are getting paid by business owners not to make any scenes in their premises. He also told me that many TJ police officers are afraid of going near gang controlled neighborhood. There is a major battle going on between drug gangs and police in TJ right now and some police members are even on the gang's payroll he said. I owe this guy big time. I have to treat this guy big time next time I visit TJ.

Damn Burt, those are some exellent tips for Tj. I've never had the bad luck of loosing my wallet down there, but I have been pickpocketed as you mentioned while in a strip bar. Also watch out for the quick excahnge of the $20 for something of lesser value. I've been a victim of that too.
Those people down there are pretty slick, and they always watch where you might be putting your money.
I'm plannig to visit Tj this comming weekend, so thanks for the great tips.

MikeDude...Sorry to hear about your loss. I once had a wallet stolen while mongering (but not while in TJ) and replacing credit cards, ID, etc. is a time consuming hassel.

While auto accidents are rare I still wear a seat belt. For the same reasons there are some safety procedures I recommend...just in case:

--Don't carry anything while mongering you can't afford to lose. (Like wedding rings if you're married.)
--Leave as much behind as possible, like credit cards.
--Get extra CA DL and/or CA ID cards. Carry one and leave a DL in your car.
--Leave enough cash in you car to buy gas for the home trip and pay for a couple of days parking.
--Use a belt with a zipper compartment, money belt, baggie tapped inside the toe of your shoe, etc. to carry emergency money. Using multiple locations for emergency money makes it that much safer.
--I have a "mongering" bank account. It's the only ATM/credit card I carry. It doesn't have a large balance so even if somebody steals it and the PIN number (or I'm forced to drain it) I won't lose too much.
--Carry a big, fat, decoy wallet. Put some one's and five's it to use in buying drinks. (Keep you ID and "big money" in your front pocket. Only transfer money to it when you are someplace out of sight like a bathroom stall) Hopefully if somebody picks your pocket they'll go for the decoy wallet not you "big money."
--Be especially watchful for pickpockets at strip clubs. (Trannies especially have a reputation for being pickpockets. Plus it's very easy to get into your pockets during a lap dance.) In such places I like to wear a pocket T-shirt inside out. I put my money and ID in the pocket next to my chest. I still have access to the money but it's hard for others to get to.

Tijuana is a really a fairly safe place to monger. But you only have to go through having your pocket picked, etc. once (anywhere in the world) to decide taking basic precautions while mongering is a good practice.

I can feel the pain for lost wallet in T.J. I had my own experience about this
in the Miami bar 6 years ago. That was the work of the slick waiter when I
was sitting with a Chica and have little bit too much of Tecate . I lost everything
the whole wallet , except I kept the passport in the back pocket and secured
. Of course, I did not have trouble getting back the border because I still
had the US. Passport . However, I had to cancel all the credit cards right away
and the thieves could not use even they already bought $ 500 usd merchandise.
The credit cards gave me back all unauthorized purchases. Yes, we must be
very cautions about this. Make copy of all ID. and place in somewhere of backpack
or suitcase. Do not carry all in the wallet . Now, I always have copy of passport,
driver license along with the original when going to T.J.
I am pleased to visit the zona norte and having fun everytime in there. However,
there some risks and thing like lost the wallet is happened everyday to all mongers.
One thing for sure, I thank the America given me the opportunity to be a citizen
and that is a biggest priveleged I can have and great feeling when I travel aboards
as I do very often just for fun.

I always keep extra money in my car in case I lose everything I can pay to get my car out of parking, also fill up for the return trip, and never fucking drive your car over the border.

Shit, I didn't want to re-live the horrible memory but thought that my experience could be of some usefulness/hints for fellow mongers who might end up in the same situation.

Here is the good part:
I arrived in TJ on Dec 20 around 1:00 PM. Set up my operating base at Leyva hotel next to CC. I usually park here because the parking is free if you get a room there. There was fair amount of chicas on the street considering it's Wed afteroon. I've never had ED problem but wanted to try one of those ED meds just out of curiosity. Went up the hill leading to the pharmacy just across the street at the top of the hill. This is the first pharmacy you see when you are walking from ZN to Aztec massage. Went in and asked for Cialis. The clerk said it's $15 USD per pill and I had to ask again because I couldn't believe the price. $15 fxxking dollars in Mexico ?? Well, I ended up paying that because I wanted to try it real bad. Just as someone here recommended, I bought a coke and walked out of there drinking it to make it look like I went in to buy a coke. Walked back down the hill and put the pill in my mouth while getting my shoes shined for $2. The drug company claims that Cialis works as soon as 30 minutes after you take it. Okay, time to test it. For the next 5 hours, I did 6 chicas and my little brother was still going strong. I didn't feel any side-effects. Wow, the shit really works. I felt like a porno star. Next time, I will try one of those generic brands instead. Anyone tried those before ? How are they ?

Now here is the bad part:
I was about to call it a day around 7 PM so checked out the hotel. As I was walking out, one of those massage guys grabs my arm telling me there is a nice place, blah blah... As usual, I nodded my head no and kept walking. Then, this real cutie appears out of nowhere and smiles at me gesturing if I am interested in suckie/fuckie. She is one of those 'freelancers' not the regular SG's working in TJ. I said to myself, why not, she is just too cute. Just one last time before heading to the border. Got into this hotel which is located next to CC club. This is not the hotel used by CC but small one used mainly by SG. It has glass main entry doors and all the rooms are located on the 1st floor unlike CC hotel. Anyway, we got in the room and then this girl asks me to take a shower. Huh ? I've never had shower request from SG before. She must be one of those clean freak, I thought. So I went into the bathroom and just cleaned my dick. This was exactly what did me in. Stupid me. She stole my wallet while I was in the bathroom. I didn't exactly close the bathroom door and I was in there only for 30 seconds. I am not a newbie in TJ but she must be a real pro stealing my wallet so fast in so little time. I am still amazed.
Anyway, while I was doing her, she gets up all of a sudden and says No Mas(no more) and I said huh ? Okay, I got one of those SG's with nasty attitude but it was only $20 so it's okay, I said to myself. Mistake #2. As I was putting my clothes on, I didn't check my gears that I normally do.
Meanwhile, she was disappearing real fast into the darkness and my agony was about to begin. Got tacos at the taco stand and as I was about to pay, I didn't feel my wallet in my back pocket. Shit ! My head started spinning to make some sense out of this. What the hell... Oh, that bitch must be....
Ran down to the hotel, hoping that I just dropped my wallet in the room. It's nowhere to be found of course. Shit, double shit... Went to the police station to file for police report because they said it's needed to cross the border without picture ID. After spending 2 to 3 hours, walking to the municipal police station located way outside of ZN, explaining what happened, getting the police report, finally I got to the US border. Now, another shitty problem is about to happen. I was sent to the secondary inspection area because I didn't have any ID. Once I got there, I was immediately sent back to Mexico becase I didn't have $260 to file for I-90 form. Mind you, I am a permanant resident, not a citizen. According to the law, you have to bring greencard when crossing the border and I didn't have it. So, to file for replacement card at the border I have to pay $260 processing fee to enter the US. Shit, I just lost everything how can I have $260 with me, can't you check your computer to see if I am legal resident? I said to CBP agent(without the word shit of course). He said, you can't enter without the money. So, there I was, driving back to TJ... Once I got in TJ(second time on the same day), I tried calling my friends. Thank god, my phone works in TJ !! But no answer. To make the story short, I ended up calling one of those taxi service in Orange County and had the driver bring the money from my friend all the way to TJ. Finally got the money from taxi driver in TJ and was able to get back into the country at 7:30 AM in the moring.

Lessons learned:
1. Make sure your phone works in TJ. You will need it in case of emergency.
2. Never try those freelancers. They are the shady ones, druggies and possibly linked with crime rings as in my case.
3. Bring extra cash just in case and put it somewhere other than wallet.
4. Make photo copies of your ID, credit card with customer service # so you can call right away to stop the account. The fucker spent $8000 using my credit card the next day even though I called to stop my accounts. It's the bank's fault so I got the credits.
5. After your session is ended with the chica, always check your gears before the chica is out of your sight. Never, repeat never, leave your clothes unattended in the room. Make sure you pay at the end, not up front. This way, she will have to wait and you will get your hands on your wallet before leaving.

Had I been US citizen instead of permananet resident, would it have been a lot easier crossing the border without ID ? Shit, I am applying for US citizenship anyway. Right now, I am in great pain because I can't go to TJ until my 'temporary proof of status' document is obtained at the USCIS office.
