Do you read your massage magazines?

Recently Pueppi sold some old massage magazines, and mentioned she didn't have time to read most of them. My subscriptions also pile up in my office, and I keep meaning to read them, but very rarely do. So, I'm curious about the rest of you. Do you actually read your massage magazines?

I do! It takes longer than it used to - now I have a toddler : - but I do read them all the way through.

I read the articles that interest me and I sometimes loan them to a co-worker who doesn't subscribe to them. (Massage & Bodywork, MTJ, and am waiting on my Massage magazine subscription...)

I also get American Spa magazine which I read and note a few interesting articles on the front cover... and then share with the owner of the spa I work at.

I still do read them but I am noticing that they really cover the same topics over and over again. I picked up a STACK (20+) of old MTJs from about 1999-2003 from a colleague who was getting rid of them, and I wasn't an AMTA member at the time, so I thought I'd read them, maybe get new info. Those are now collecting dust .

I read them. Sometimes it takes a little longer for me to get to them, but I do. I, too, have noticed some repetition in topics. It's like there's a cycle of topics that get covered over and over. Sometimes there's a new twist or new information, sometimes not so much.

The new ones go in a basket next to the toilet (my study) for about a month. I usually read the articles that look interesting, then "archive" them. Once in a long while I will go back through old issues. I often find that my interests have changed since the last time, and articles that I passed the last time are relevant.

Being fairly new in the field, I devour the magazines (I currently receive MASSAGE and MTJ, and I'm getting ready to subscribe to ABMP's mag also). I like looking through them for the ads, continuing ed, too... to give me ideas of things to look into on the web, etc.

What mags does everybody get? (should this be a separate topic?) I'm not talking about mags for the waiting room (i know that's been covered in a recent topic). I"d be interested in recommendations for other mags I should consider subscribing to....?

Heidi, I get Massage Mag and ABMP's Massage and Bodywork. I got MTJ until I switched from AMTA to ABMP. I liked MTJ until they improved the format....and it became a lot more ads than anything. Massage and MTJ did seem to parallel the articles constantly, too. I probably will not renew Massage Mag this next time. I enjoy it, but one magazine pretty well covers the gamut of information, so I will stick to the one that comes with my membership. I was getting the American Spa too, but didn't renew that when it ended.
