so mates wich bar do you think have the hottest chicks at the best price.I heard the beatle bar now charges a covercharge.what is it.I scored a room at the del rey for 55 dollars in sept plus air from san francisco was only 386 dollars.What do you guys think of of cocal hotel in jaco.do they have a chick fee.

Jaco is only really fun, especially to newbs to the place, on weekends. Not to mention, it's only fun for a day or two total. San Jose you can monger hard nearly every day of the year outside of a couple holidays.

There is no "vs". They are two different venues in two different places. The Del Rey serves its purpose here in San Jose and the Beatle Bar serves its purpose in Jaco.

In an effort to answer your actual questions.

Beetle Bar now charges a cover charge of $10, wristband allows re-entry if doing a turn and burn tour of duty.

Staying at Del Rey is a bad idea (only in my opinion) try other hotels Hotel Little Havana, Sportsman's Lodge, Amistad, etc for a better room at a similar price and a better time.

Coctal hotel in Jaco, no chica fee, decent hotel even with some on site chicas (not sure about during the day) My biggest suggestion here would be to request a second floor room. (see my post about a last second Jaco trip for more details.)

End of the day ask yourself what you are wanting to do. Based on your screen name I would think you like to surf. Check out the tide charts for when you are visiting and if you have a few days you are going to Hermosa or Jaco you should have a fun time. Surf is average to good. If you are coming to CR for surfing there are MANY, MANY, MANY places you should be going rather than Jaco or San Jose (Playa Grande, Playa Avellanes, Playa Samara, Witches Rock, and on and on!, but also notice that Tamarindo and Jaco are not included in surfing destinations.....).

If you want to surf in the day and fish for pink at night, I would go to Jaco. That is a good all service stop for your needs. But only you know what that answer is.

HDR is open 24/7 and the Beatle Bar opens at 6 pm which makes it inconvenient for people who want to chill out at a place during the day. Jaco I thought was fun for a few days, but has nowhere near the options that San Jose has when it comes to having fun all day long. There wasn't really too much to do in Jaco during the day and it was somewhat of a quiet town until the night when the party starts.

Add in the 10 dollar cover charge for the Beatle Bar, I think HDR overall is a better place because it's available all the time. Beatle Bar is still a lot of fun though, but what probably bothers people most is that they have to wait until 6 pm every single night for it to open.

I read somewhere on here that you could pick some up during the day...how is it nowadays? I am coming in March 2012 spending most of my days in Jaco and one night in SJ.

was in Jaco this past weekend. The cover charge at the BB is now 7,000 colones ($14). The place gets worse every time I go; still fun though, but not like it used to be. It's like they are trying to reinvent the wheel or something - strobe lights, VIP sections, cover charges, high drink prices (2400 for a stinking national beer). its not a VIP club in vegas, its a hooker var at the beach. The worst part about the place is the t-shirt/cigar salesman that walks around constantly pushing his products. You'll be involved in a cnversation and he'll come from behind, tap you on the shoulder and show you the same shit he did 5 times already.

Was in DR last night - the talent was about as bad as I've ever seen. Maybe it was just an off night.

Could have written the above post Just returned from Jaco and SJ - have to agree with all he wrote; I was told the cover at the Beatle Bar will be reduced somewhat off season - but I remember last Jan. it was like $7 if memory serves - both places mentioned - not to be negative - had a lot of uglies as well as older ladies, especially the HDR.

I don't predict doom and gloom based on one trip but hope its not a trend.
