A Connecticut man is accused of sexually assaulting a West Haven massage parlor employee during an armed robbery in August.
Officers responded to a massage parlor in West Haven on Aug. 18 on a reported armed robbery, according to the West Haven Police Department.
During this investigation, police learned that a woman was at the massage parlor that evening by herself when the doorbell rang. She said she went to the door to tell the person that they were not open. When she opened the door, a man allegedly pushed his way into the parlor and ushered her back inside, police said.
According to police, the woman claimed that the man bound her hands and used a pair of scissors to threaten her during the robbery. Before the man left the business, she alleged that he sexually assaulted her, police said.
During the robbery, two cell phones and $600 cash were stolen, according to police.
The woman described the robbery suspect as a heavyset man with a beard, police said.
Detectives working the case learned that a witness who was in the area at the time of the robbery saw a man matching the suspect’s description drive off in a gray-colored sedan with what appeared to be a New York registration plate, according to police.
With the help of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, West Haven police were able to identify the suspect as 42-year-old, Terrell Meynard of Stamford and learned that he was suspected of robberies at massage parlors in three other towns in the area.
Meynard, who was already in police custody on a first-degree robbery charge in a separate incident, was arrested at Milford Superior Court on Thursday and charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree larceny and first-degree unlawful restraint.
