Can I introduce a young corn snake to a dog and cat?

We are picking up our new corn snake today, I'd like to be prepared as the dog at least will no doubt show some interest if the snake is out and being handled - is there a safe way to introduce them, should we leave it for a little while until the snake settles in, or is it not recommended at all? I suspect the cat may be more of a problem what with sharp claws and all - any advice please?

I think the cat would either run and hide or suspect that is a new toy or new fresh food....

The dog might also see a toy or fresh food or go hide.

I sincerely doubt they can be "friends".

Damage to a snakes skin is very complicated. Many retriever type dogs will try to carry it in their soft lip but generally expect trouble and a cat most certainly can't be trusted, the killer is never far out of them.
Keep the snake separate and safe!
