Breastmilk, introducing baby food?

How many times should I give my 7 m/o son baby food? i pump and breast feed, he still nurses in the middle of the night. I was thinking about giving him milk through out the day, and then lunch time will come around & i will give him half a jar, and a bottle. then when dinner comes around i will give him the rest of the jar & another bottle.

I'd start with once a day, then follow baby's lead. If he enjoys the solids and does well on them, you could move on to twice a day fairly quickly. If he's indifferent -- stick with once a day or just stop for a couple of weeks.

(You might also consider skipping the purees completely. At 7 months he may be able to eat finger foods. And if he can't manage them now, he probably will be able to within a few weeks. So you could skip the whole mess with jars, and just wait a bit longer.

Slower is better, if he has never had solids give him one or two teaspoons AFTER he has nursed give a few days for each food you try and start with plain vegetables or fruit. Don't force baby to eat, if he turns away stop offering and try again in another day or so. Before 1 year solids are only for trying textures and learning to eat breast-milk should be the primary nutrition still, it helps to offer the breast every time before baby eats for the first year.
