Border Run or Stay in TJ for the weekend?

Thanks for the great info. I've looked before for hotels in this forum but they weren't as specific like you in your post. Or maybe I didn't look hard enough. I've thought about staying in hotels in La Zona but is it right? They probably wouldn't want to lose a room for the night anyways.

There are several posts regarding hotels in and around La Zona. Just do a search for "hotel" in this forum.

My favorite is La Espaٌa. It is very clean, chica-friendly and on Revolucion between 3rd and 4th which is just a few blocks from La Zona. Even though it is on Revolucion, it is actually very quiet.

Another is Hacienda del Santiago just a block east from Adelita's. The rooms are larger but it is not quite as clean as La Espaٌa and it is pretty loud.

The best (but also most expensive) is El Ticuan. It is a very nice hotel and would cost a couple hundred per night in the States. It is chica-friendly. The one downside is that it is about 10 blocks from La Zona, not a long walk as long as you are relatively sober. A cab should be just a couple of bucks. It is just off Revolucion on 8th Street.

Some mongers use Las Cascadas or La Leyva. These are located right in La Zona. Pero no gracias para mi, gracias. There are many other hotels in La Zona but they are never to be mentioned in polite company.

A couple of years ago my buddies and me were to go to the Padres vs Dodgers game and the day before the game we planned on going to La Coahuila. We ended up going both days to La Coahuila and never went to the game. The problem was the cost of the hotel on the US side.

I don't remember the price. I would like to repeat this but this time I would like to stay in TJ since is probably cheaper and closer to where I want to be at. I would like any suggestions and would like to know what the damage will be. Any hotels you can suggest that may be within walking distance from La Coahuila?

I would recommend the Hotel Ticuan. Same price at M6 but much more luxurious and 4 blocks away from the zone. Take a taxi or if you drive go to puerto nuevo. Lobster burritos, beautiful beaches, beautiful town, and the baja coast. Whale watching with a chica is wonderful.

My trips down to the border are usually for two or three days.

The past few trips to TJ I have stayed in Chula Vista at one of the motels along the trolley route. Days Inn is a pretty good deal with a Hotel Guide coupon. Sometimes I stay at the M6 in San Ysidro. Sometimes at the Travelodge near the border. I've heard stories about the Travelodge, but never had a problem. Of course, I pay cash and never use a credit or debit card.

I usually stay a couple of nights and make a late afternoon/early evening trip to the border. I cross over and get a taxi to AB. If things are slow at AB, I walk to CC or HK until I see something I like. After my fun is over, I grab a few tacos at one of the street vendors (never had a stomach problem) and catch a taxi back to the border. I give the taxi driver an extra buck to drop me off "on the other side" near the border crossing. It's never been a problem. I'm usually back at my room on the US side by 8 or 9pm.

The next day, I do it all over again.

The reason I like staying on the US side is mostly the lack of US TV channels in Mexican hotels and the boredom during non-monger activities. It also gives me a safe place to leave my belongings. Staying on the US side gives me more options and even a M6 is more comfortable than your average room near the Zona. I did stay at the very nice Pueblo Amigo during a business trip, but it's a bit pricey for a monger trip.

I doubt I would get chica'd out in such a short time. I quite ~like~ stripclubs and just watching girls. That is one of the things I like about Thailand. With the GoGo's you can spend some time enjoying the view and then enjoy the LT even more after. Absolute worst case for me is I would have to spend time reading a book. How hidious!



That is my preference. One of the things I didn't find in Costa Rica and other latin areas was "longer term rentals." (I didn't spend a lot of time looking either.)



Sometimes I like the "fuck and run" but generally I prefer a more GFE type of experience. In the "latin" areas I have "partied" St. Maarten, CR, DR, and Miami, the majority of girls seemed to just want to get it over with. (Not all, but most.) If I am going to be a three minute man (old WW2 term) I would just call up Pam and her five friends. You ever watch monkeys screw? That is what I think a 20-30 minute or less session is like. Just a transaction. Nice, but I like a little more.



NOB recommended PA and I booked a room. For my first time having it all worked out in advance is easier. I figure if I like it and return I can try other hotels next time once I get the "lay" of the land.

Taking a cab to the border is very expensive and not necessary. Instead, ask the folks at the airport where to get the downtown bus to the trolley. (The bus stop is right outside the airport on Harbor Drive, the road that the airport is on.) You could actually walk to the trolley. It's only about a 20-minute walk and very nice as you walk along the San Diego Bay. The trolley takes you directly to the border crossing. (Take the trolley that says "San Ysidro".) If you take the bus to the trolley, ask for the $5 all day pass which is good for the bus and trolley for the entire day. If you walk to the trolley, it's only $2.50 to the border.


As long as you stay in the tourist areas, you will not have any problems.

Personally, unless you have business in San Diego or want to visit places in San Diego, I would stay in TJ for the two days. You can get a very nice room for much less than what you would pay in San Diego. But as some others have pointed out, if you believe you will be "chica'd out" within 5 or 6 hours, you might not enjoy bombing around the tourist areas of TJ for the rest of your time. You could hop on a bus to Rosarito or Puerto Nuevo or Ensenada but there is no mongering there to speak of unless you are fluent in Spanish. The Baja coast is something to see, though.

You may want to consider a "Toda La Noche" with a chica offered through one of the reputable agencies. It is a very different experience than the Adult Disneyland experience of picking out 4 to 6 to 12 BGs and SGs during a 12- to 24- to 48-hour marathon. Either Sampson (mexicolindobar.com) or NOB (cumintj.com) or Tania (hottijuana.net) or the folks at LatinLiveAngels.com or adultbaja.com can help you out. The agency will recommend a good reasonably-priced hotel. You meet the chica and take a cab to the hotel (or they will hire a driver for you).

If you plan on staying just one night and two days then get a room in either TJ or USA really close to the border.

I agree with OC Hobby. 2 days worth of hobbying in TJ is really a long time. I tried it once, I stayed overnight and I was somewhat bored the second day.

My penis also started hurting. Limited hours, 6 hours or so, is plenty of time to check out the street girls, bar girls, and eat food, and watch some shows in Hong Kong bar.

Two days of activites are too much. The excitement and wow factor wears off after the first day.

I assume you mainly need the room so you don't need to lug around a suitcase.

TJ is a porn-u-copia of pleasure. Cheap pretty women. Make the crossing and binge until your mind and body can take no more. If you binge correctly you will probably opt for something different on day two. To me TJ is like Disney Land, after 5-6 hours of being there you are ready to head for home.

Not really, but that was kinda why I asked. I am not "affraid" of staying in TJ, it just seems "overly American" to jump across the border and not enjoy the culture.

Lugging a suitecase (even on rollers) doesn't appeal to me either, but doing a border crossing 4 times in as many days seems over kill too.
