Best place to park in San Diego? Cross the boarder?

This is my first trip to TJ. is there still any bars that offer dog and pony shows?

I haven't being down there for almost 6 months. The last time i went down i took the Amtrek with someone. I think is cheaper this time to drive down to San diego and park then walk across the boarder. Hows the traffic looking around 3is in the afternoon on Friday? I gonna head straight to Hong Kong Bar, i had a very bad experience at AB last time. I don't think i want to go back there. The quality of the girls are around 4-5 and most of the girls are big time rushers. I can't even concentrate. I rather pick up couple freelancers. Anyone want to head down there in the middle of January? I looking at 18th or 25th. Let me know if anyone wants to carpool.

My favorite place is the lot that is at the Duty Free store. Fro the Camino de la Plaza exit, you go straight through the stoplight and enter on right. It is $9 for 24 hours (you pay on your way out) which isn't the cheapest at the border, but it is relatively well lit and secure. My favorite part unless it is really busy you can park very close to the sidewalk and be in Mexico and at the taxi stand in 5 minutes.

Coming back to the US, as soon as you get out of the BPE station door, immediately turn right and take the pedestrian walkway across the freeway. When you get back down to ground level, you turn right and in a few dozen feet you'll see the entrance to the parking lot.

I've also parked at the lot right at the light that ChasinBeavers is talking about. It is also very close. I usually get their too late and leave too early to do the Mexicoach bus.

I was down there a few months ago and on weekend nights (around midnight), the lots can get full. When I was walking back to the "ChasinBeavers" lot I noticed the Duty Free lot was full and several cars were waiting at the entrance. The "ChaisinBeavers" lot was also full and they only let one car in when I drove off. As you can tell, there are several lots down there and I mention the traffic situation because if you show up at the wrong time, you might not find a spot in some of the closer in lots.

flyingpanda, I recommend you take the last U.S. exit at Camino de la Plaza; at the light take a right and then immediately turn right into the parking lot of Border Station Parking lot (where Mexicoach picks up and drops off passengers going to downtown TJ). They charge $9 for 24 hours, but the lot is safe and secure. You can either catch the Mexicoach for about $5 that will drop you off at their terminal on Revolucion & 7th, but if your going to AD's, it's better to walk a long block to the border, cross it and straight ahead is the taxi station that will take you directly to AD's (or anywhere downtown) for $5. If you have additional people with you, the taxi option is really cheaper than the Mexicoach bus.

But when you are ready to cross back into the U.S., the Mexicoach is the better alternative (if you cross back before 9 p.m.) because it travels through the bus lane, drops you off at Customs, where you (usually) pass through quickly, then go out the front door and catch the Mexicoach back to the Border Station Parking lot. If you take a cab back to the border, the pedestrian crossing will often have a long line and take quite awhile to get through.

Flyingpanda ! looks like you are on flying mission ! You can try the one just near the border crossing, this is behing Jack in the box, next to the trolley station. It costs some 5$ for 8 hours, its 24 hours open. There might be cheaper ones a little further away, this one is the closest to the border. You dont want to walk too much and spend your energy before reaching the hot spots

I planning to drive down to San Diego from Southern Cal and i need some advice where to park overnight for cheap and safe? I prefer some kind of garabe that open 24 hrs. Then take the rail and cross the boarder to have some fun. Can anyone recommend any locations close by to park will be greatly appreciated. I planning to go around mid-january, if anyone wants to carpool feel free to Pm me.
