Best Modality for chiropractic/theuraputic setting

Hello, I am just beginning the process of mapping things out for myself. In the intro class they stated the school gave a basis in Swedish massage and after our certification they suggested going for more educational in something more specialized for the setting you plan to practice in. As a male, I think I will have the best opportunities if I seek work in a chiropractic or other therapeutic massage setting. Something geared towards more healing, not just relaxation. What are the best suited modalities for this area of massage? Are there any modalities the insurance companies like to see? Any advice would be appreciated =)

Deep tissue and Myofascial Release. Chiropractors generally need a therapist who knows myofascial work when it is going to be work for re-imbursement.

Having worked for a Chiro in the past I would strongly advise you to take CEU's that YOU are interested in, and of course continue to do whatever it takes to build your own practice seperate and apart from any position that you might take.
Your career and doing what you love and have a knack for should always take precedence over what a chiropractor thinks you should take. However if the Chiro will PAY for a specific course, go for it!

It sounds like you are just starting out, so don't put the cart before horse. If you want to do treatment work, the best classes are going to be in functional anatomy. Know your bones, muscles (and their attachments and movements,) tendons, ligaments, nerve pathways, lymph node sites, etc. Really understand the seforum.xxxes of inflammation, acute and chronic injury, and scar tissue progression. Then, any classes you take will make much more sense to you, and be much more useful for remedial work.

Most people who work with chronic discomfort and injury, use a variety of techniques, rather than one or two single modalities. The BEST "modality" is having a good enough understanding of anatomy so that your assessment is effective, and so that you understand what needs to happen so that the body can regain balance.

You'll find a lot of MFR enthusiasts in this forum, which is great. But you will get more out of the training if you lay the groundwork first.

Ortho-bionomy and craniosacral are also great techniques to use in Chiro setting - my personal chiro uses them all the time as does his wife, my best pal, the LMT. Other Chiros around the county use ortho-bionomy, strain/counterstrain, positional release and the like and encourage their LMTs do like wise.

I agree with Breath it is really importent to know your A&P. How the bodyworks and just bc someone comes in with left shoulder pain does not mean thats where the problem is starting ( I start poking around the right hip in this example). You also need to know what a Sublux feels like and in some cases feels like. I have worked on lots of people seeing the chiro for TMJ and I found Boris Peltrusky has some great moves for that. I personally like Boris bc I feel like he is not a one trick pony
